Marianne Marlow, some of Squeak's droppings are a little soft but others seem normal, for a budgie with a veggie habit. Her weight at last measurement was around her usual baseline value so I believe she is eating, not pretending, for the most part.

That is good news. Marianne Marlow, some of Squeak's droppings are a little soft but others seem normal, for a budgie with a veggie habit. Her weight at last measurement was around her usual baseline value so I believe she is eating, not pretending, for the most part.

Getting ready for her vet trip, I just captured Squeak in record time with I hope the minimum of trauma. I had to net her but it was a very short chase. She's now in the vet cage. Squeak being Squeak, she's already found where the food is. And her loyal Fan Club is there to provide moral support.

Finrod seems the most curious about what is going on.

Finrod was concerned. Later Chocobo became very concerned indeed. I was worried she'd figure out how to slide up the cage door. I'll post a pic or two later, I'm at the vet now waiting to be seen.

Chocobo assesses the situation: Chocobo is on top of the situation: Squeak back from the vet and full of beans:

The vet and I are in agreement. If there is something wrong with Squeak, it is at a level where invasive procedures to diagnose it would be counter-productive. There's simply no clues as to what is going on with Squeak and so any and all tests would be a complete shot in the dark. The trauma associated with blood tests, for instance, would likely cause more harm than good, with possibly no benefit to be found. None of her symptoms are clear enough, frequent enough or severe enough to warrant reducing her quality of life, which is on balance, pretty good.
The vet has asked me to refer back to him if there is a substantial change or if any new symptoms present themselves. I am reasonably content to leave things as they are for now, whilst Squeak has more good days than bad days.

If the way to keep Squeak happy & healthy is for me to do nothing but cope with a small level of anxiety over her actual health, I will do that. I'm wary of trying to give myself peace of mind, at the cost of Squeak's comfort and safety.

Seems like you had an okay visit and have a plan. Glad that Squeak is lively after her ordeal.
Chocobo seems concerned for Squawk.

Squeak has been very busy since she got home. And Chocobo's behaviour was most odd, she did appear concerned over Squeak's incarceration.
The vet speculated on whether there was a genetic element to Squeak's behaviour. He mentioned breeder practices where they were not careful about matters of in-breeding. I'm fairly convinced that this could have been the issue with dear Patch (Squeak's former sibling).

So sorry that Squeak has been a concern. I really hope that she continues to have more good days than bad. I’ve just seen the extra names in your flock!!! Off to investigate and I suspect I may have to go back a while to read about these new buds.
