I darkened the room, reached into the big cage with my gloved hands and plucked Squeak off her swing before she knew what was happening. She got in a couple of good bites but then she was placed in the travel cage. The Flock is closely monitoring the situation. I feel like a h9rribke, treacherous kidnapper but the dreaded pursuit with Squeak getting more and more tired/terrified never materialised. So there's that. Heading out in fifty minutes.

Oh, poor you and Squeak, I'm so sorry.
I hope that the vet can help her.

I know how you feel. Trying to grab Tweetie Pie is always challenging and I feel awful doing it, but its got to be done to get to the vet's. She'll forgive you.

Waiting at the vets now. Squeak spent much the 55 minute trip eating. Not fussed at all! I'm just chatting to her now.

The vet has discovered no abnormalities with Squeak. Breathing, lungs, air sacs, crop, weight all good. No lumps bumps or concerns. In fact, Squeak was active, lively and after giving the vet a couple of good bites, did not want to let go of her hand. In view of my description of symptoms, the Vet is going to consult with some specialists for ideas. She remembered Patch and I told her I thought he and Squeak were probably siblings - maybe Squeak has a little of what Patch suffered from? I'm waiting for an email idc. No meds prescribed. Squeak was fine on the journey home. She's still in the travel cage but I've placed it right next to the other budgies in case anyone wakes up in the night.

Its often so perplexing. We know somethings not right but the vet can't find anything. Tricky little budgies! Hope it turns out that Squeak was just messing with you.

I'm glad Squeak got a clean bill of health. Must be a weight off.

I'm glad Squeak got a clean bill of health. Must be a weight off. I'm relieved there's no nasty conditions detected but I'm worried I don't have an explanation for the symptoms Squeak sometimes displays. Perplexing indeed! I hope I get something reassuring from the avian vet referrals.

I'm glad Squeak got on well at the vets. I hope the vet's discussions provide some useful suggestions.

Squeak seemed OK this morning but just now she had found herself a corner to have a snooze in and there was a pronounced tail-bob. Herman was trying to harass her so I shooed him away but then Chocobo was attracted to the fuss and Squeak flew back to the cages for a feed. Mr Hibs is monitoring. Over all, Squeak seems well today. A puzzle. I found out yesterday why the vet won't take bloods from budgies and small birds - the laboratory they use for tests won't test blood samples of less than a given quantity. Completely out of the question for birds of less than 100g in weight which means my Flock is out of luck ๐ Currently the whole flock is playing in the lobby ๐

It's such a shame that the vet has not managed to find a reason for Squeaks symptoms. Does she have a Squeak when she leans over the seed bowl to eat? just wondering if iodine deficiency might be a reason.
