Well, the usual worry... compounded by an approaching bank holiday & limited vet availability... Two years ago, around this time, Perry had a burst abscess. Naturally, I posted about it here: Link to forum threadI am experiencing a case of deja vu... I have sent photos to the vet of the newly developed black area on Perry's lump & she agrees that it looks like the same thing. So basically, it's just a waiting game.... To say I am on edge will be an understatement....

Is it worse to have a situation sprung on you, or to know that something is about to happen? I don't know but I'm hoping the best for Perry and yourself, Sweetpea.

On par with "If a tree falls in a forest, and there’s no one around to hear it, does it make a sound?" If it's 'sprung' then no preparation... but if waiting, then can be prepared, but I will have worked myself into a tizzy!

Oh sweetpea, I'm so sorry, and I feel your anxiety. Has the vet given any advice as to what to do if it bursts again (fingers crossed this is not the case) These things always happen at the worst possible time.

Just read through your link from last year sweetpea, I hope you don't have to go through this again.

Just read through your link from last year sweetpea, I hope you don't have to go through this again. If it bursts, it's just a case of containing any blood loss & getting him to a vet as soon as possible. That said, I'm still confused as to why blood loss & not pus (based on previous experience)? This is where I wish I was a billionaire & could afford a live-in-avian-vet! Though morally, that would be depriving other birds of care... so if a billionaire, I would also finance the training of thousands of avian vets!

I do hope that it contains itself until after the bank/national holidays when everything will be open again.

Oh, sweetpea, I do remember this from the other year. No fun for either of you but I can only imagine the stress it must be causing you. Fingers crossed 🤞 for you both. Xx

Perry seemed a bit off yesterday, not interacting much with the other two, which is what happened the last time. However, this morning he seems in a better mood. I haven't had any major flashes of the black bit so I am burying my head in the sand for now...

Oh sweetpea that's such a worry. How is Perry doing now? Fingers crossed he's OK until he can see the vet xx Perry is pretty stable right now, though some ups & downs over the last few days where he's been in a funny mood. A couple of days he refused his evening medication but took it last night. I think the lump is steadily growing. The dark area is also expanding but looks quite dry, so, dare I say it, not 'active'. I may be completely wrong but it's possible that as his lump expands, blood vessels are not reaching the extremity, hence the dying off of tissue. Bank Holiday today, so we are on the home straight to normal vet opening hours. Perry is currently having his morning flirt with Moriarty & I am having a cup of tea!

Glad to hear he's stable sweetpea , his flirting with Moriarty must be a good sign that he's feeling well. Normality in opening hours isn't too far off thankfully.
