sweetpea sending get well vibes for poor little Perry. I hope you have got some sleep. So sorry for this rough patch, Sweetheart. I hope you both got some sleep. I did eventually go to bed, but didn't sleep too well. The baby monitor was on so I kept checking.

Poor boy, and you . I had this journey with my Teddy so feel for you. I was just comparing a pic i have of him and we had the same area higher up which kept bleeding and scabbing over then rinse and repeat, he lived until he was 12 and had the lymphoma for a good couple of years or more. I didn't know Teddy had something similar. What a little soldier he was! Did you do anything for it, or just let it sort itself out naturally? I feel better for knowing another budgie has coped with this - thanks for sharing. I tried various lotions and potions but I don’t think they really did much tbh, I did give him quite a strong dose of ACV and he had metacam if I felt he was uncomfortable, on the whole he seemed happy and was eating and drinking until the end bless him.

Thanks, skysmum . I was thinking that aloe vera gel direct from the plant might be good but I thought handling him (especially as I'm useless at holding them) might make things worse. Also, the chance of me holding him still & applying something to the gross area & not ing at the same time are pretty slim. Must admit I have generally lapsed with the ACV. Focused more on supplements for seizures & liver. It's good he was able to be happy until the end. What a sweet boy he was!

I am sorry, sweetpea. Poor little Perry, and he had been doing well on that front, too. Sorry you had such a rubbish night of it as well.

Sorry you had such a rubbish night of it as well. 'Tis a rollercoaster ride... Perry appears to have stabilised on the seizure front but now I know he can have seizures that break through the medicine, I'm on edge again. The BleedingScabbingWound also appears to have stabilised... for now. Perry is eating, drinking, preening & has had his morning flirt with Moriarty. I'll sort out some more gory photos for you!

I'm glad Perry is taking his problems in his stride and that seizures and wound have stabilised. It's amazing what they can cope with.

Feeling well enough for a M-flirt has to be seen as a good sign. He is still enjoying his life and that is the main thing.

Good luck at the vets today, Sweetpea & Perry. Yes good luck with the vet for Perry. Hope it goes well. The vet has cancelled. To be rescheduled. Yesterday I was actually considering cancelling the appt because I don't think there's anything she can do about the 'wound', just maybe give me some clarification as to what is going on. Plus Perry's beak doesn't need a trim just yet. However, last night Perry had another seizure so I thought I'd go ahead with it & we can discuss what's going on there. All that thinking was wasted though as she cancelled on me! The wound is relatively stable. I've noticed a couple of single blood spots since the bleed, so it's still 'active'. I think parts of it are scabbing though, so it's in different stages. Perry is like a zombie budgie... you think 'He can't survive this....' then he gets up & starts walking again... even though part of his body appears to be decomposing! He's in good spirits this morning though (sunshine helps) & has had a flirt with M.

That's a mixed bag of news, Sweetpea. Perry's condition and his resilience are both perplexing!
Sorry the vet got cancelled though. I hate when that happens, it just means the stress and anticipation one's been carrying thus far gets continued. Annoying.

Oh poor Perry it sounds awful for him. Not so nice for you either. I remember my Custard having a lot of comebacks too. He'd be weak and lose weight and then the next day, flying about as happy as Larry.

Having an awful evening. Seizures at 7pm, 8pm & 9pm... Takes him about 25 mins to recover from each one. And me about 2 centuries...
