Fingers crossed that the seizures do decrease once that drops off. Is it something that oozes out from the skin? I've always been trying to figure out if it's an open wound from the photos. Too bad you can't send him to theatre for a good old incision and drainage of abscess! I'm not sure either, Ira! It seems the pus does not ooze because it's solid. I think in that last photo the pus is the yellowy bit bottom centre. Sometimes, bits of it 'glisten' which suggests some sort of leakage. It seems to be all sorts of things! Almost like it has its own ecosystem! In all honesty, even after the vet explains it, my brain still can't really compute what it is!

Bird pus is a bit like cottage cheese, so hard to wash or syringe out. This was the problem with Misty’s sinus infection. Sinus infections are ridiculously hard to clear up because of the lack of blood supply through the cavities on all of us but at least our pus can be flushed out, birds’ can’t. I did get to see the stuff myself with Smudge’s preening gland became infected. It was probably a bit drier than cottage cheese but that same lumpy texture.
So we will wait with our fingers crossed and hope that Perry does better once the “gory thing” has resolved itself. 🤞

Makes for unpleasant visuals, but still very informative!

oh poor Perry. He is so brave about it all. I hope the gory bit falls off soon and that the seizures reduce again too. I hope you are managing to get some sleep.

Still here! Bit of a rubbish evening as Perry refused his medication. I tried for 3 hours with celery, apple & fennel. He has been very sleepy. Bit worrying - I changed his supplemented water to GA. He finally started eating something around 9pm. He's now sleeping on the perch that I vet wrapped earlier today, after avoiding that end of it all evening. Hoping it will help his little feet. There was an 'incident' early this morning. I woke up & checked the monitor to see him on the floor. When I investigated he was flapping around all over the place, but in a panic not a seizure flap (though it's possible he had had a seizure prior to the panic flap). I sat with them for about half an hour & as it started to get light I went back to bed. Gory thing still hanging on.

Oh. I'm glad it wasn't a seizure, but very worrying to see him on the floor flapping away.

Not good, all that flapping about, but good that the Gory Thing was not disturbed, and that it was not a seizure. Good boy, Perry, for using the vet-wrapped part of the perch. 👍

How is Perry? and your nerves? Still coping. Perry had another seizure since I last posted, so I'm still on edge. Gory thing is holding fast, even the bit the vet thought would fall off in a day or two. Perry is otherwise ok. Mostly snoozing & preening. Still eating & drinking. Still having intermittent flirts with Moriarty. I've vet-wrapped another perch as I'm concerned about his feet. Still another perch to do. When I expect him to step up (e.g., in the morning to be transported into Moriarty's cage), I smear my finger with savlon in hopes of him getting some under his feet.

Poor fellow; is there a foot issue that is causing the bumblefoot or another in his litany of health problems? Is it a circulation problem, do you think?

Poor fellow; is there a foot issue that is causing the bumblefoot or another in his litany of health problems? Is it a circulation problem, do you think? I think it's just a pressure sore problem, as the vet checked his perch situation. He has a range of perches, but does sit for awhile on one perch at a time. He's not that overweight but the lump does limit mobility.

Latest picture from today: Gory thing still holding fast. The bit the vet thought would fall off 'within a day or two' (10 days ago!) is on the left of the photo, & pokes out under his feathers.
