This is what Billy's droppings are like. Took this one this morning, but they have been like this for almost 2 years now I think. Vet said liver and kidneys might also be culprit.

Herman's droppings have a high water content and seem to contain a lot of urate. Kidney function is a possible culprit. He (and the Flock) will be given access to AviPro and MT three times per week, unless the vet contradicts this. The flock also gets Zolcal F (Vit D & calcium) twice per week, iodine once per week and ACV three times per week.

Thank you lemonora . I am sorry for Elsa's trouble but I'm glad she continues to live a great life with you. My budgets get regular ACV, I'll just add Avipro & MT into the weekly schedule. I used to use Avipro regularly, when Squeak was showing signs of illness, it will do her no harm to have it again I'm sure. At least, this is my plan unless the vet advises otherwise. I'll let more experienced folk provide opinions on your using Avipro for your flock. Thank you lozhinge Please do let us know how things go

Herman in the vet cage: It was a very messy capture, poor Herman exhausted himself. I remember what he was like at six months, it would have taken an hour to capture him but easy living has softened him up somewhat.

Back from the vet. Herman did not enjoy any part of the experience today, poor lad was panting like crazy the whole time in the vets.
Anthony wasn't sure about the cause of the discolouration of Herman's beak & claws. The change in pigment shows up both on the outside of the beak and the inside. The dark claw pigment is just on the upper side of the affected claws. Anthony has seen changes in colour of this sort on budgies that have lived long uneventful lives, with no other symptoms of possible liver damage/dysfunction. Apart from Herman carrying a little bit of extra weight around the pectorals, there were no other physical signs of concern. Oddly, Herman's droppings in the vet-cage were pretty normal, not concerning at all. It may be that the watery/yellowy droppings I have noticed belong to a different budgie. Some detective work for me. I was offered a blood test for Herman, which I have declined. There was no condition that Anthony could suggest the Herman was likely to be suffering, where a blood test would suggest a useful course of treatment. If there's a liver issue, I am doing what's necessary with the supplements being provided to the flock. If the kidneys are a problem, there is not much to be done for that. If there is some odd blood condition that is causing the discolouration/bruises, there is no treatment for that.
In short - keep doing what I'm doing, watch for signs of deterioration and keep fingers crossed that whatever might be wrong is benign or not life-threatening for a long time to come. In the meantime, Mhoram & Herman could not be happier that Herman is back home safe.

Maybe Herman and Finrod just need to hit the gym a few times a week together Glad the vet was not concerned. Billy was panting so hard when I took him to the vet that he was given oxygen.

Poor Billy! Herman was close to needing oxygen I reckon. He's tired out now, I can tell.
Finrod is, the word I think is, "chonky". I think he comfort-eats because of Chocobo!

Poor little Herman, being so stressed! The good news is that the vet didn't find anything obvious. When Buddy had the bruise on his beak recently, I watched as it grew out with no discoloration coming back. You could watch Herman's beak growth in the days to come. Since you take many pictures, you'll be able to use those to determine if its growing out.

How is Herman doing? Why does Finrod comfort eat cos of Chocobo? Were you ever tempted to call her Pikachu? Whenever I see her it's what pops into my head!! Herman is fine, no change. His weighing today showed no change too. His beak looks the same as it's been. Finrod gets chased by Chocobo if they get too close but to be fair, I don't think Finrod is traumatised. Today in the Herb Jungle, Finrod was pretending to feed on some thyme but was in reality nibbling on Chocobo's tail. That made me laugh! I've never made the Pikachu connection with her as my associating her with a chocobo is so strong. It's a good shout though!
