Max was laying down holding in to his favourite ball with his foot in the car. For comfort I guess? Last time I came here, I had to sit outside and they took Billy away from me to examine him - due to the covid rules in 2021..

Thank you loz of course that means something too! ffiscool Was the person Max came from (in case you didn't realise) Yes, I recall Max came from ffiscool. It's marvellous that our birbs sometimes stay 'within the family'. I always doubt my own ability to decide what's best for my Flock so I usually doubt my advice to others.

He does love those. He used to lay down here too, but yes I’m sure his things are comforting.
Let’s hope the meds help. I suppose a case of looking at his poops and behaviour now. 😒

So sorry to hear Max is sick but glad you caught on and had him checked. I don't think any of us can say what decision we'd make until we are in the same situation. That's funny - "preening to get the human smell off". He's such a sweet little character, hope he recovers quickly. You are a good budgie mom, going through the Uber journey and expense to help him.

Lovely Max. I'm glad he's more relaxed now he's home. I hope he gets a good sleep tonight.
I'm glad you were impressed with the vet. It makes such a difference to have a vet you feel confident about.
I would have made the same decision as you too. We had a similar situation with one of our rabbits. As they get older they often suffered from gut stasis, so we knew what we were dealing with. We saw a different vet than usual and she wanted to keep her in and do x-rays but we knew she'd do much better at home with us, so we took her home with medication and she was eating again by teatime and her normal self the next day.
Being at home with friends can definitely help recovery.

You're right criswell about him being home with friends. Also the vet mentioned putting him in a hospital cage at home. But I know Max would just use up all his energy pacing back and forth wanting to come out, it would not help him get better.

Brave little Max. I hope he feels better soon. I too would have refused anything requiring anaesthetic.

Max seems fine, you wouldn't even know he was unwell.

Weird isn’t it. He can’t be feeling sick at the moment.

They already get milk thistle 2-3 times a week as Billy has liver and kidney issues. He asked if I give any supplements and I told him the whole routine. I have noticed that Max favours the little black seeds - nyger seeds I think. Wonder if they are unhealthy If it’s poss liver, did the vet suggest milk thistle?

I just looked them up. Have a lot of positive benefits but also high in fat. But they’re a small proportion of the other seeds, is he eating veg etc? I can’t think it’s those seeds doing it

He eats those seeds first though. Yes he eats veg, or at least shreds it!!
Maybe I need to look into a mix that doesn't have those. The Tip top does unfortunately.
