Thanks all…. It’s a vision cage so dishes fit at the bottom of cage nice and neat. Have put some dishes up for now and he has had a good feed. He’s flying round and round lounge now…

My budgies don't like going to the floor to eat and drink. Also as I have so many budgies, they often spend a lot of time together in 1 cage and there would be a lot of augments with them all trying to eat from those pots. Can I ask why Marianne? I find them so easy

All good advice, maybe lowering the seed and water every couple of days will get him used to going further down for his food and water ?

Can’t do that with a vision cage Rozenda as pic shows………..This morning I have put his food all back in it’s normal places and covered some of the newspaper with some of his usual bedding.. I really wished I had left everything alone because he still hasn’t gone back down to the bottom of the cage to feed yet today. He has been feeding happily in the feeding dishes at the bottom of the cage for eight months and I just change things for one day and I have really upset him.

Our little budgies really are creatures of habit and routine, aren't they?

Buddy has seemed really well, then this morning he was playing on my arm and he had what I can only think is a seizure of some sort…..he went very quiet, then his wings drooped again and he squat down with his eyes closed. I held him quietly and then put him on his perch….that was two hours ago and he hasn’t moved yet. I am totally distraught,he had seemed so well, gained weight and was very lively. I can try and get him to the Avain vet that is over an hour away but it would have to be this week………..I can drive now but after this week could loose my license ( I have glaucoma and am having the test that tells you if you can continue to drive). This is the third episode now that he has had in the last few weeks. He is only 11 months old I am just so upset….

I'm so sorry Ladybird. This is awfully worrying for you and so unfair to Buddy and to you. I have absolutely no idea what could be wrong.
I wish we were neighbours, we'd get Buddy to the vet between us. As it is, I can only hope the best for you both.

I'm sad to hear this. Do you think the weather is not helping? I really think Max is not good with the hot weather, plus moulting too.

I don’t think it’s the weather it’s not been as hot here as it has for you. The breeder called the other day and trimmed his nails and said how well he was looking….and he was really active, talking, eating well and then this morning he was playing happily and then he went a bit quiet and I just knew something was about to happen….I suppose when you just have the one bud and they are very attached to you……you just know……….He hasn’t moved or made a sound now in over three hours….and I am silly but just sat here in tears because I can’t do anything.

How upsetting for you I hope he bounces back as he has before. I wish I knew the cause. I know you wouldn't have any perfumes or teflon around.

I would not use one at all to be on the safe side. I'd bin it.
Let's see what other people think, but I chucked away all my teflon when I got budgies.

We rarely used it but have binned it now. I am forever going to blame myself if something happens to him . None of my other pans are Teflon . Just offered him a drink and a bit of red millet but he wouldn’t have any.
