The Teflon that has been used since 2015 is made with PTFE which is considered to be safe.
Earlier Telfon used PFOA which was found to be toxic to humans (and thus of course, our budgies). I would not hesitate to discard an older pan if it was somehow survived this long. The Teflon coating used now is safe at any heat that a standard domestic stove can put out, and only starts to break down at about 500deg C. edit 280deg C - my memory was faulty or I was thinking in Fahrenheit.
I use a Teflon frying pan plus some non-stick oven trays but these were quite cheap items and are looking a bit worn already. I will be discarding them in favour of a more resilient pan plus some Pyrex oven trays as even a small risk is too big a risk.
Like Ladybird, I keep the doors closed between the Flock and the stove when it's in use plus I open the window and the back door.

apparently there are mats that some people put at the bottom of ovens, they also have teflon in them.

Loz thank that has eased my mind . I just had the one frying pan and it wasn’t old, As I say the last time I used it was last Monday and we had the kitchen door open as it was a warm day and the doors to the lounge were closed too. Oh come on Buddy please move . just last night he was making us laugh because he was bobbing at himself in the mirror a lot and non stop talking.

If it was not used often, it’s likely nothing to do with anything, esp with door shut et, but at least that’s no longer a worry for you in case. Ceramics are good as long as PFOA free
I hope he picks up again. Are you able to phone the vet and describe what’s happened, as he’s been seen before, maybe they can prescribe/suggest something

I feel very confident in saying that Buddy's condition is not linked to the use of your pan.

I would like to add, a modern Teflon pan should only be used if the surface coating is intact and not worn through or scored with scratches.

Fficool the vet he saw was near were we live and not an avain vet and I think he was pretty clueless about budgies….the one he really needs to see is near Blackpool and doubt she would do anything without seeing him. I am going to try and get her to see him but it will probably prove difficult, plus she may want to keep him in and that would be so difficult for me………I have not seen him look this bad before….not feeling good 🥲🥲

I'm so sorry Buddy is unwell again, and I hope with some rest he'll start to feel better as the day goes on, and that the avian vet will be able to see him. He recovered so well after last time, and it's so unfair that it has happened again.

Agree loz, but it's better to be as safe as you can. Loz thank that has eased my mind . So sorry for you and Buddy. If it helps put your mind at ease, everything I've read says the danger comes from over-heating the teflon - it sounds like you're. On the other hand, its good you've binned it because you'd always wonder.
Get well, Buddy.

So sorry Buddy is unwell again ladybird. It’s so puzzling when he perks up and can have consecutive days of looking well and being active, only to have another spell of being unwell. I really hope he pulls through and starts to move and eat again. Thinking of you both.

I really hope he pulls through and starts to move and eat again. Thinking of you both. All I can say is I spent many months wondering how long Squeak would be with me. She had me several times believing I was about to lose her. I will never be complacent but right now, and for perhaps a couple of months now, Squeak has been the picture of health. No worrying symptoms (but I will never stop worrying about her anyway, not ever.)
