Sorry, I didn't mean to worry you! Baytril is a general antibiotic for all pets and so is suitable for birds too. I would mention Ornicure to your vet the next time you go though, as it is specific to birds and respiratory tract infections. See what they say.

Thank you so much for your good wishes everyone Well... I really can't believe it, but she seems to be continuing to make steady progress *FINGERS CROSSED* (PLEASE don't let me have cursed us by saying that) She is really responsive and lively again, she loves coming out of the cage and interacting with us, playing and generally being rather mischievous! This morning she produced every single word, phrase and animal impression we have ever taught her just about - her miaowing cat was particularly impressive - while sat on my head and happily played on the top of her cage with various toys and in the big tray (to try to contain her footballing skills) for a good hour or so. Her flying is getting stronger although we're being careful to try to contain her to pretty short little distances at the moment. Her breathing seems easier and she is now tackling soaked white millet as well as red (using a weak GA solution). However, she is still not wanting to eat seed (or indeed anything else) from her bowl. Enjoying carrot tops, apple, satsuma, cucumber etc though and she will sometimes like to have a bit of toast crust when I have breakfast. The feathers above her cere are slowly getting whiter again too. She's still in the small cage with a towel covering the back, I feel more confident with her in there rather than the big cage for the moment. She seems to like the security too. We take her upstairs at night so she's with us. Running low on Baytril so organised to pick up a little bit more from the vet this afternoon. Sarah - the vet was great when we went in on Monday, really good considering he is a general practioner and does mainly small animals and farms. Hope you can find someone good too. I still worry stupidly that she'll go downhill again or that this is just a temporary thing, but I never ever thought we'd even get this far - all we can do is take it day by day and try to do our very best for her.

Oh also, have ordered some liquid Calcivet, some ready-to-use Avisafe and some natural-flavoured budgie Feast from the Birdcare Company too - hopefully all will help get / keep her healthy

The not eating seed from her bowl is rather weird, still, don't you think? I wonder why.

Yeah stace I know Am racking my brain to think of how to entice her to at least have a look. I have put some mung beans on to sprout which should be ready later today, she used to love them, so that might help.

Lovely to hear she's improving Have you tried feeding her seed from your hand or changing her bowl? Might be scared of her bowl or something.

I had a hen rolling onto her back , no grip in her feet , 4 days later after having calcium daily directly into her crop she is now back to good health.
