Quick update from here! :-)
Swammble is doing really well considering how poorly she was. I still cannot believe she's still with us, and more than that, that she is back as her old self! She is having a mega-moult at the moment which is a bit worrying, but we're giving her lots of variety of food and she's had Calcivet for a week although off that again now. I'll repeat next month. And while I am soaking her millet in GA she is having plain water again.
She is still not wanting to eat seed but HAS been to the seed bowl on the floor a few times, which is progress of a sort, although I think she was after the oystergrit which is in there rather than the seed. She seems to be eating pretty heartily though - gets through probably a full half millet spray a day give or take. Plus mixtures of apple, carrot tops, curly kale, dandelion, cucumber etc.
Her poor little head is very pin-feathery so trying to give her scritches when she asks for them, and baths every other day - with the central heating on she dries pretty quickly!

Thanks both I'll never stop worrying but am just incredibly thankful we've got her to where she is now. She's still in the small cage, definitely seems happier in there... But she has a good fly at least once, usually twice a day so I HOPE she's getting enough exercise.

Great news for Swanny! I am so happy that things are looking up for her. If she is still recovering, a couple of flights should be enough for her. You don't want to tax her strength before she is back to full health. Mind you that can be easier said than done if she is anything like Bluey. He is climbing the walls, literally, to get out of the little cage and is off all over the place. Vet says okay, as long as it doesn't impact his breathing. So really, Swanny is probably eating a more healthy diet now than before!

thanks hezz Aye, she's doing good still. Her latest love appears to be cheddar cheese *face palm* - I know they can be susceptible to lactose intolerance so am limiting it to maybe once a week but honestly, she LOVES it. Amazingly she has been going down to the seed / oystergrit bowl more and more. I think she's mainly after the grit but am sure am not imagining that there have been the odd bits of seed husk in there too! Otherwise it's still soaked millet for the main plus greens. One of her tail feathers is has grown out weirdly which worries me a wee bit - it's asthough the white sheeth has gone thin in one bit then extra thick / bumpy just below it, sort of as if it's paint and it's 'run' somehow. I am betting her illness meant she didn't have the nutrition to make a strong, normal feather. It looks normal at the root though and other than being rather quilly after a big moult her feathers otherwise are absolutely fine. If anyone would like to see I can try and take a photo...

See what you mean. I think you are probably right in that there was no spare nutrient to grow a great feather while she was poorly. Happens with our hair and nails, so ccan't see feathers being any different. As long as it wasn't an injury, it shouldn't affect the next round of tail feathers through. That photo shows up her pretty green under-tail feathers. Glad she is going to her seed, even if she isn't devouring heaps!

Just a thought but does Swanny get enough iodine? - Does her seed have it in (although she's not eating it) does she use her iodine block?
My Blueboy is not eating seed much either but he'll eat millet - I think it's softer for him. He doesn't use the iodine block.

thanks both.
Hmmmm she's got an iodine block and used to have a go at it most days but I haven't seen her at it for a long time TBH, and not noticed any powdered pink bits on the bottom of the cage either (and they'd be sure to show up as am still using kitchen roll).
Her seed of choice back in the day (seems a looong time ago since she was normal LOL!) was Trill which has added iodine but I wouldn't say she's having more than a kernal or two a day from it now.
Is there iodine in oystergrit? She's having that no bother. Need to check to see if there's any in the GA too, am still soaking all her milet in that in the hope it's getting some more nutrients into her in addition to the veggies.

There is iodine in the GA. I don't think oystergrit has any.
