A lesson to be learnt on this thread , never dose more than the recommened makers dose, don't supply meds willy nilly , only give probioticics after the course of anti biotics and in this case the bird MUST be isolated, kept warm and be placed in a quiet area of the home.

Thank you barrie, ill wait untill after her course befor giving her some then. I was planning to ween her off the painkillers once the sore on her foot healed, which it had almost done untill i went away and it was sore and scabed again when i came back so didnt take her off. Its just been taking soo long to heal. Ive only got the two so it wont hurt eagle to spend the week (or however long it takes) in his own cage in the days, they sleep in diffrent cages. Nobody goes in my bedroom and i only have the radio on for them and the airpurfer on in the day so pritty peacefull up there. If she is still active and wants to can she come out for some attenton or should i just ingor her shouting at me and leave her in her cage? Just want to do whatevers best for her realy, which i thought i was doing with the meds but reslise not now.

Very good news that she is expected to recover well, the vet sounds helpful and friendly, and seems to have given her a good look over, which is always a reassurance.

Thank you, mine cant realy do fly mode lol, Ive just got back fomr work and put eagle back in his cage (as i had left them tougher befor reading your post barrie) and they are now both throwing a tempertantrum as ive parted them. I asume you advised to keep them apart so she doesnt get worn out yeah? I think ill take a book up and just sit by her cage and read for a hour each day.
Yeah i relay like this vet, the guy is nice as well, i wouldnt trust them with anyother vet around here. She will be seeing the guy on monday if all goes well, i had booked that appoitment last week as i wanted to get them health checked as eagle was sneezing a bit last week and with the slight staining ada had above her cere then i wanted them checked out, also thats why i got my new air purifyer (not for my own health but for the budgies health)

Oh you have had such a scare! :-( I'm glad the vet was so helpful and hope both these special and fiesty birds will be fit and well soon. I don't know of any budgie books but hopefully someone else can suggest something. Barrie was talking about writing one or even a series a few days ago - that can't be published soon enough huh! :-) Meanwhile I can't imagine any book having such extensive and useful info as this forum does...

well ive read them half of my dog mag, Eagle thought it was boring and fell asleep, and ada had some dinner, played with her fav toy then stood on her iodine block and played with her fav toy some more. Then came back to her sleeping perch to chat.

if barrie does do a book ill be buying it!
I dont think there is any more dryed blood than there was and didnt hear her sneezing last night, eagle was tough. And we had tempertantrums when she didnt come out thismorning. So things looking up.
Tryed to clean ada feathers above her cere to remove the dryed blood so that i will know if she starts sneezing up more but she got realy stressed so ive left it. I think ill pop to the shop and buy some parsley and soak it and put that where she normaly scratches her head and see if that works.

I can honestly say there is no book out there that I would recommend as all the ones I have seen have too many mistakes in. Barries website is a really good read and you can't do any better than asking advice from experienced breeders and owners on here ;D

Thanks everyone. We got lost 3 times but finaly found it. The vet says her poop looks greener than she would like which would say is linked to her liver, she checked it under the microscope just to make sure there nothing there. She got the stepherscope out and listened to her back, frount and head. couldnt hear anything wrong. She said the bleeding could be comming from sinus or lungs and as she isnt struggling to breath or tail bobbing and seems alert and happy she would think sinus is more likley. She thinks its all linked the the metacam she has been on saying overdose been on it too long. Said to stop the metacam as she thinks that caused it and as she is bleeding she shouldnt have painkillers anyway. She gave me some baytril as said as she is bleeding there is a risk of infection. so she on 0.02ml for a week then come back. she said she in my vets on thursday if she get worse but she cant see why she shouldnt make a full recovery. Can anyone recomend something to put in her water to help her gut as she will be in antibiotics? you could use gaurdian angel from northen parrots AFTER (not during) she's had the anti bacs, it helps restore the gut flora.

Ada is a bit tired today so i asume the Antiboitics are kicking in. Not even the sound of my bath running got her excited like it normaly does. But she is still chirping to me and at one point was head bobbing to her mirror. Her poop have been both light geen and nomal coloured through out the day.
Im also now well and truly in the dog house, or should i say the bird house. Ada says im not allowed any hugs nor can i give her any kisses or belly rubs. Eagle is also joining in and no kisses for mamy and he is pretending he cant see me. He will have to give in soon as he is a mammys boy.
