Checked adas mirror and there was a small sopt of blood on it, and she had some faint blood around the bottom of her cere. while i was sat reading to them she started sneezing and had a small bit of blood on her. The painkillers have defernatly worn off now as she seems to be putting a lot of her weight on one leg again. But she seemed to enjoy me reading to her.

I don't like the sound of that, PP. Did you manage to track down the vet? (Sorry, can't remember) I would be mentioning the blood spots to him. I don't know enough but sneezing blood doesn't sound right.
If she is off the painkillers, she could definitely be feeling out of sorts - both with pain and withdrawals, as you say. I so hope she is coming through this okay, PP

thanks hezz, she saw the vet last monday and is seeing the male exotic vet on this monday.
She seemed good this morning and was head bobbing and talking to her toys. But has been sneezing again and some more blood on her, it doesnt look as much as the first time only a tiny bit but still worried that it is happening again. Befor yesterday it hadnt happened since the sunday night beofr i took her to the vets. She has also hurt one of her claws so ive clipped them as i was leaving it so not to stress her out but needs must. Im going to put her on the scails tonight so see if she has lost any weight or not.

thank you hezz, she seems in a good mood today and was singing away to me with her head held high, chest puffed out and cheaks and head feathers up.
I got her on the scails and she has lost 6grams since last weekend. 52g to 46g. i still cant feel her brest bone but not happy that she has lost so much so fast. Also noticed she hasnt been feeding her toys reasontly. Sat up with them thismorning and again at lunch time and no sneezing blood a few hours ago and no sneezing blood. she hasnt had the antibiotics yet, im wondering if prehaps she has been breathing it in when iv been giving it to her? or prehaps its not related at all.

The vet says it could be a stomach aulsa, as the type of painkillers that metacam belong to can cause them but metacam the least. He says the sneezing blood is a new thing for him, but says if a aulsa is near a blood vesle thats where the blood comes from and she could be bringing it up and it just happens to be comming out her nostrels when ive seen her.
He says if hes right it is something that will sort its self out and to keep up with the antibiotics to prevent a secondary infection. He put her on the scailes and said he isnt too worried about her weight yet as she doesnt look or feel under weight but to keep and eye on it. He also listened to her lungs and air sacks and all souned normal. Also had eagle checked over and he couldnt sounded all good.
He wants to see her in 2weeks and to call if she gets worse.

That is a mixed bag of news, PP. Not sure if it is good or bad! I do hope then that it does sort itself out. Lucky you have access to a b****y good vet.

Yeah hezz im taking it as goodish as if it is it will clear up with no lasting damage.
I just wish i knew about him when i had my first budgie jake, he may have lived longer than he did. But looks like i will now have two of them, the man larnce (he works with zoos as well, if you saw the program 'anna's welsh zoo' or 'vets 24/7' the welsh one at st james pratice he is the vet on that) and now got a lady one too.
Im now nagging her to eat more, she like her millit sprays an will buy her a seed treat stick and get some veg to try her on again. she isnt a fan of veg. She was also singing away thismorning and last night i put her on my bed to give her her meds and she saw the sringe and ran off lol so she is still in good sprits.

I wasnt impressed with th eseed treat fomr tesco, most of it fell off while i was getting it out the wrapper and it has some bright breen and red pbits in it that looks like kids sweets?? But they seemed to like it. Ada got the biggest one and eagle got the one that fell apart.
I let them play tougher today as they were both getting upset and seemed a bit depressed with not being tougher. Ada was giving eagle kisses untill she got a bit over excited and kissing turned into pecking and eagle fell off the perch. lol And again today when i got out her meds she saw and ran off to the back of them cage but took them nicely today. There was a bit of sneezing again last night but the biths that were on her mirror were clear. She has lost another gram since last weekend but thats better than losing 6grams in a week. Egg food will be on the menue tomorrow.

update on ada, she is still doing. She doesnt seem to be having sneezing fits that ive hurd but has still been sneezing on and off but its been sneeze a few seconds, sneeze a few seconds one more sneeze. rather than sneezing one after the other for a while. Been checking her mirror by her sleeping perch and the droplets on that have been clear and some have had a tiny bit of faint blood but only a tiny bit that is hard to actualy notice. She has lost a bit more weight and is down to 42g and is looking like a slim budgie not a fat budgie but ive gotten her to eat more by moving her food bowl at night so its infrount of her sleeping perch. Two of her claws are still brused and she has a small dark patch on her beak nowand the old blood above the cear in her feathers is fading away, also her beak is getting long so ive clipped a bit off but as she was getting so upset about it i only took a tiny bit off so there is more clear bit left on it but the dark mark is over where the clear meets the yellow part so better to leave some clear then cut the yellow i say. She seems more active as well and has actualy been wanting to see eagle so he came to see her yesterday and when i put him back she went to a perch she never sits on to be as close to him a possible. Once she is better im going to try moving him into her cage. She either has vets this monday or next monday ill have to look as ive stuck the card to my stearing wheel in the car so i dont miss it.
