Yay Mac! Sounds like he is getting there which is really good news Thanks for all the info on these little buggers, I am not familiar with the Aussie type of tick but they do sound a lot different from ones here in the UK. Common' Mac, you're nearly there

We have the general "garden" variety as well Sam, but these ............... oh Lord! They are something else! All the good wishes are paying off - he is getting a little stronger each day. It will be a while before he is back walking with me fully - we will have to work up to that gradually.

I feel like I have done a nursing apprenticeship! With all the helping, lifting, feeding, making him drink etc. So Mac and I have been through this together. It is so good to see him up and about again, even if it is only for short periods still. Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts.

Course - you must have had your hands real full what with your new birdies as well! Hopefully things will start to settle down for you - you must be worn out?!

Not really worn out Sam, but more pushed for time. It was okay with just the extra birds, and just two of us at home, but after Mac came home from hospital, so did the rest of the family, lol, each wanting their little piece of me. But everyone back to work and school come Monday - a little peace will return. ;D For some reason Mac has taken against two little dogs that are walked past our driveway. He has a right old bark at them and even what sounded like a growl! He never, but never, doesn't like other dogs! I don't know what is happening there - the old lady who walks them has been so lovely too, asking how he is going ........... and this is how he rewards her!

Yeah, you may be right, Mick, and I did wonder the same. I hope like hell not, because everyone just loves him and his happy, friendly nature. T'would be a shame for that to change. Our street is on a slight slope, but only a block long, and we are on the high end, so a walk down the street means a walk back up the street. We did it one and a half times this afternoon - and then there is our driveway, about a 30 degree angle. His back end was starting to wobble coming back up the driveway, but he made it. Each morning and afternoon just a little longer than the last walk. A while to go before he is back to his 5km walk in the mornings, but we are making progress.

Definitely baby steps, Sam, for a dog who used to romp for an hour or more and think nothing of it. It is just wonderful to see some enthusiasm in the boy! I will still be needing to sneak out the back door and up through the bush to the back road though, for the most of next week. Hopefully as he continues to pick up, he will be able to come on part walks with me. That means me doing the most and them coming home to get him, not the other way round, otherwise he will wake the neighbourhood in protest at being left behind!

Thank you Sam. We are working on two walks a day - short ones, of course, but each walk a little longer than the last. Hopefully by Friday I will feel he's strong enough for a short romp in the park with the other dogs. I will have to drive us there though; I could just see him wearing himself out and not having the energy to make the walk back home! I do think he is missing his socialising. It must be the doggy version of a catch up over coffee. ;D
