All positive from now on, Sam. If only the beggar would get the "heel" command! I felt like it at times, Mick. I think he knows it too.

Glad Mac is back on board. Hope this is the end of it, and he's not setting up some sort of pattern. This thread might never end!

So glad Hezz to see by your posts that Mac is well on the way to a full recovery. So nice that Mac has been able to go out and socialise with his (and your) friends again. You have done so well. ;D Well done to both of you. ;D

Thank you, Shirl. We certainly have come a long way these last few weeks. Every morning I let him romp up the hill on the road behind us. It is only a short road, about a suburban block long, but quite steep in parts. It has to be strengthening up his bum muscles - I know it has mine. ;D

Hi Skysmum. I think so. I had to unexpectedly go away for a week and so he has missed out on his morning walk for that time. He was so excited when I came home.

I've just read this tread Hezz, don't know how I've missed it, Glad Mac is now OK, such a worrying time. His symptoms sound the same as Lyme disease, which is found in certain parts of the UK. You would not believe something as small as a tic could cause such terrible consequences. Have you tried adding a little garlic powder to Macs food? this is supposed to stop fleas and tics. We have frontline here (like spot on) but it says it's effective against tics in 48 hrs. but that could be to late if the tic has been attached all that time. I remember a couple of years ago we'd been walking the dogs in the woods were there was a lot of bracken and we checked them over when we got back but Alfie had picked one up between his toes and we missed it. It stayed there sucking blood untill it finally dropped off a week later and I found it on the floor trodden on, there was blood everywhere. We have 'seasonal canine disease' here at the moment, just in certain parts of the country, which is another terrible disease that can be fatal. The Animal Welfare Trust are trying to find out whats causing it. Their latest theory is a harvest mite.

That's great, so glad he is back to normal. I bet he was chuffed to bits to see you. Thought about him the other day when my daughter took Alfie to the GROOMERS . It took three of them to get him through the door then he stood quivering like a jelly while they bathed him, big cowardly lion. He had rolled in a dead squirrel three days before and she just couldn't get rid of the stench. He smells sweeter now though. I could write a book about this dog and his antics ;D.

I know what that is like Skysmum - Mac rolled in pig poop once. That stuff is toxic! He isn't fond of a bath either.
