I certainly will, Skysmum. She swept past me this morning while I was giving her her fresh grass and changing water and was very unceremoniously bundled back inside! I am trying to leave her alone as much as possible and the others are allowed to visit her but she isn't allowed to fly. The upside of her wanting to be out and about seems to be that she isn't thinking too much about her wound and is leaving it alone.

But at least she is leaving the wound alone, that is areal positive meaning she will hopefully heal up really quickly. Mind you I thought what with being a hen she would want to chew at everything.....even herself?! Get well soon tho Smudgy x

Thanks, Sam. She is being a funny little thing. Gave my fingers the cutest little nibbles today when I put my hand in. Maybe she was so keen for company even my finger would do! Most un-Smudge like. The other two come at regular intervals and sit on the top of her cage for a chat ............ I caught her hanging upside down like a bat from the top a while ago ....... again, most unSmudge like.

Awwwww. Aren't you all lovely? Well this morning I was changing her water, grass and paper (she hasn't touched her seed much) and this time she did escape! Flew across the dining/lounge in the kitchen which is their normal route, but I measured it recently, it is nearly 10 metres from cage to window/tree!!!! They are supposed to sit on the tree but mostly sit (and poop) on the windows. So back on my shoulder, carry her back to the cage, on my finger again to put her back into the cage ...... whoosh, she's off again. Same route, back to the kitchen window. I ended up taking her into my son's (now empty) room and managed to finally catch her up on the bed! So less than two days after surgery, no flying for 7 days supposedly, she has been out and about. But happily there seems to be no ill effects from her un-planned flight, no blood gushes etc. I am shaking my head again just thinking about it! Marianne Marlow, the others do quite often too, but it is so not like Smudge. sarah*glittergirl2212, as the story above shows, she is a willful piece of works. But I am inclined to agree that she can't have anything too much worrying her if all she wants to do is escape. samwiseg I got another little nibble just before too, but I also got lunged at when I was trying to curb her sprint to freedom!

HA! I knew IT! Smudge: "I will be really nice so Hezz wont suspect anything..... and then be really cute and I can ESCAPE! SEE IF YOU CAN CATCH ME NOW EH?!"

Naughty Smudge, but not exactly surprising that she'd do that really is it?! You've just got to love that little budge!!
