These guys just turned up on my balcony. They are wild cockatoos. They are AMAZING. They took nuts from my hand. What a blast. I've got a video, but it's taking a while to upload. Be here shortly.

They are around often, but usually they don't just cruise right up to where I'm sitting like this. It has happened before, though. And yes, I have noticed more birdlife around in the past week and thought they must be fleeing the fire zones.

I notice the other one, his mate?, is keeping a distance. There were three of them, and they all came over to say hello. I gave them each an almond, which they were very happy to receive. I tried them with a piece of carrot each as well, but none of them were interested in the vegetable. Where have I heard that story before. I had to ring my mum up on a video call and show her right then and there. Hopefully the video I took will be ready soon. It's taking an age to process.
