May i ask,why do you breed these birds,or even why do you breed birds which may carry the FDS gene???
Is FDS a result of man s genetical experiments to create the show budgie???I haven t seen any pet type fd budgie.

Thank you The FD gene is hidden away Panos we cannot see it or identify which parent carries the gene in the first instance , once the culprit is identified it is never used in the breeding cage again.............................we DO NOT breed with the intention of producing FDs

Hmm, was wondering if you could get them to moult and the feathers would grow normally after that or if it effects all feathers grown.

Good question. I always wondered if you could feed them something high protein enough so that they would survive.

Good question. I always wondered if you could feed them something high protein enough so that they would survive. Trimming their face feathers and feeding high protein food will extend their life to about 12 months

wouldn't it be better for the bird to put it down earlier? as horrible as that may sound is it not better to do that when it is young rather than see it die before its even aged?
