Mine have started "bombing" any of the family if they venture into the living area and they think they should have their seed - like you, mine still have something to eat, in their case the fresh grass. But they have everyone on side now ..... so of course whoever gets bombed, or head sat on, comes to me and says the birds want their seed! This really made me lol! The advantage of the bombing is that it is exercise so if seed is being temporarily witheld to control weight, you've got a result there! My girls would not have contemplated bombing - they just continued to sit where the seed pot should have been & had tantrums. My Phineas bombs me for attention during the day. It's a very hard thing to ignore.

Im withholding seed after they have had their morning feed too sweetpea, they just get veg and a small dish of harrisons till around 4pm, they are getting very grouchy about the new arrangement but i figure if they are that hungry they will eat the harrisons. Teddy has a fatty tumour and he is the worst grouch, i didn't realise what a seed junky he was, he was never away from the feeder .

Well, nothing compares with that noise - that's for sure! I've never heard a budgie make a noise like that before.

I have the same inner talk myself! It's so hard to be strong when you're a softie & you can see/hear their pain.

I also wonder if they just pig out & ultimately still consume the same amount anyway. I guess this is where measuring their seed (teaspoon each or whatever) is a good idea, but then in a flock, the "bully" would eat all the teaspoons before the others.... Plus seed containers just aren't built for a small amount of seed.....

Smudge is pretty good at this one too, but nothing like Atilla, from the sounds of that! She wasn't giving up, was she, sweetpea! If I am at the computer on the dining table, I get visited by all, either looking for bits to nibble, or as gentle reminders that uh, hum, we wouldn't mind a little seed, here. This is about 11am, around 3-4 hours too early!
