Okay that's it, I am taking my baby to the vet. after talking to the vet today in my area on the phone, I realized that FinFin does not act like a budgie. He is actually lethargic if you want to see it correctly. A budgie who does not move from a place just sits on one spot all day long without anything, that he enjoys to do. Be it chewing, climbing or whatever, is just lethargic. My main reason to go to the vet is because he started having this noise lately when he flies, like you read already on my other thread. But he also began to sneeze lately and today a few times in a row and I don't think budgies should sneeze that often, if everything was fine. My husband sees things a lot earlier then most people. And he actually told me in the very beginning
"this budgie has no personality, it does not respond to anything and sits there lethargic."
I of course was defending FinFin, since he became my baby etc. But right now I am also concerned. Id o not get Guardian Angel any place in the USA, so I got something else yesterday with a lot of vitamins etc. But still he sits all day long puffy, sometimes chirping and chatting and sometimes just quiet. So I decided to take him to the vet tomorrow for an exam, which I should have done after getting him from the pet shop anyway... Maybe if he was sick the whole time and that was the reason he was not chirping or interacting with any of the other bird at first place, they would have replaced him for a healthy bird. But now it is too late and I need to find out how to help FinFin coming through this.
So let's hope, if he has something, that it can be fixed, otherwise this would be no good first start for my first own bird... I am afraid it could be something serious. But I will find out tomorrow. In the meantime I keep his cage covered on three sides to keep him warm. What I also figured was, that his feet are not warm. Not really. At first I was shocked, that they felt so cold.

How long have you had him now? I think some take a lot longer to settle, without being ill. The sneezing and noise are worth checking anyway, but in the videos he looked fine in himself. Bailey did nothing for ages and sat in one place. He is not always bounding around, yet others on here seem never to stop. Is he eating and drinking ok?
He does need checking out but hopefully, if anything, just needs some meds
Good luck

Cold feet now and then can just be a sign of stress tanja. If they are cold all the time then it could be a symptom of something else. It really really is very early days with finfin.
However it will do no harm to get him checked out just incase, i hope you get on ok, let us know.

ffiscool, I've had FinFin now since November the 30th and he did not change very much since then. I mean he got tame very fast, but probably because he does not move around a lot. I just know a lot about birds are masters at hiding illness. so really? I should have done this exam when I got him to be clear that the shop sold me a healthy bird. But I didn't. I know that all the birds there were active and chirping and interacting. He was so to speak a loner and quiet sitting on a food bowl in the end of the cage. I did not go for an active bird, I actually chose him because he was looking at me, not because he seemed to be an active and happy birdie.
skysmum, yes I agree it's worth it to let him get this exam and hopefully nothing bad comes out of this! One thing I have to say is, that my husband always is right, even though I still try to think it's just random that he is right, but looking back to the time I met him, he was always right with everything. It became true. So we'll see if he was right this time as well, that something was off with FinFin in the very beginning.

I really hope your husband is wrong in this case and that little FinFin will be ok. It's only been 6 weeks since you got him, and also, with having his wings clipped he may not be getting enough excercise. Some budgies need constant attention and love to develop their personality, especially if they are an only bird. The sneezing thing, all of my budgies sneeze when they get tired or stay up too late. Several sneezes in a row. I have never worried about this and as all mine do it I put it down to a budgie tiredness thing. It only happens at night in my house. But not all the time.... A trip to the vet will do no harm anyway and hopefully it will be good news and put your mind at rest

I hope you are worrying over nothing. The best trip to a vet is a wasted one. Is the vet an avian vet? General vets are not very knowledgeable with birds.

lemonade, I wish it was just towards the night, that he sneezes. I mean I wasn't worried in the beginning because sometimes he sneezes after drinking something. But now he does it in a row, like an allergy or something. also I heard him doing a strange noise last afternoon when he was relaxing. It sounded like a clicking when he was breathing. As soon I moved to the cage he stopped and stretched his wing. I don't know if that is related or not. But he doesn't do the sneezes when he is tired, he actually does it all day long at random times.
stace, yes they do have doctors there for different animals. Dogs, cats and also birds. I was looking for avian vets in my surroundings and found the West Valley Pet clinic! The exam will cost me $75, but it is worth it, if FinFin does have something!

Put some kitchen paper down on his transport cage, so the vet can collect some fresh poop for examination.

BTW. when I got FinFin the 3rd day at my home he suddenly had an closed eye and couldn't open it! I just remembered this. I was worried about that, but it dissolved itself very soon afterwards. It was scary though to see only one eye open and the other stayed closed. stace, thank you for this tip, I will do that! I need to take his cage with me, because I can't get him out of his cage and do not have a carrier box or something like that. So I will need to get out all toys etc. when I go tomorrow and then I will also clean the bottom and put some kitchen paper there.

Even if the vet gives Finfin a clean bill of health, this will be reassuring for you, but it is sounding more and more that possibly there may be something, hopefully easily treatable, that the wee little guy has. And it is hard for you not having another bird to compare his antics or sounds to. Good luck you and Fin at the vets and let us know how you get on. Positive vibes flying your way.

Hezz, thank you very much. Well I guess it will hopefully resolve tomorrow and I will know for sure what is going on with my baby. And you are right it is very hard to compare, if something is normal or not, when you have no other bird to compare him to. Only thing I know for sure is, when I picked him at the bird shop, he was the only one who was not actively flapping around and interacting. I chose too fast I guess. I did not even spent a second look on other birds. Last time I was there to get some egg food I saw this beautiful white budgie with light blue and he was so sweet! But I did not see these budgies before. Because there was this one budgie who stood up even though he was way at the end of the cage, when I saw him. Okay enough whining about what could have been better while picking a bird. I hope that the vet does give FinFin a clean bill of health!

Good luck to you and FinFin. I hope the news is good. The vet will know what to do. FinFin is so cute... much too cute to be sick, and you love him so much already.

budgiefriend, thank you so very much! Yes indeed FinFin is just too cute to be sick. so let's hope for the best! I will keep you updated. I will have the appointment at 3 PM tomorrow. I will clean the cage and get everything out that may make him nervous and then take his cage to the vet. Otherwise I think it would be too much stress. oops... He just did it again, he was chirping and in between the chirping he suddenly coughed or sneezed, really not good to explain.
