sweetpea im just catching up with post's today. Ive recently been through the exact same thing with my Piper, looking at your vid of C it could have been him. Piper went through a hideous moult and was twitching and sleeping a lot, he also lost his appetite. At first i thought he was having little seizures. With my avian vet on holiday i decided to keep a close eye on him myself until he returned. His symptoms were so vague though that i couldn't put my finger on anything specific. Anyway it lasted for a couple of weeks and he is now back in fine fettle. Im thinking it was the moult but will continue to keep an eye on him. Hope C continues to improve

Hope C continues to improve I felt the same as you in that if we were not going to see a vet with avian experience it would have been pointless as the symptoms were quite vague. I am so glad that Piper is back in fine fettle, though it was naughty of him to worry you!

I didn't notice a wing droop with Cagney, but he does tend to droop his whole body when tired! I think also that the wing twitching was keeping him from sleeping properly so he was desperately tired which probably made it all worse. I don't think he appreciated me waving food in front of his beak every few minutes either....

That's it, poor little chap tried to sleep but the twitching wouldn't allow him too, it was pitiful to watch and he seemed very depressed. He is ALLLL THAT at the moment though and looking lovely again, im still keeping a very close watch on him though. Hopefully it was just the moult and hopefully for C too.

I'm fairly sure it was the moult because Joey went through one of those a while back and he looked very similar. Now look at him. He is best tux in most of his pictures. Good luck and best wishes sweetpea

I dont know how I missed this thread?! So apologies for not commenting sooner sweetpea - how is Cagney fairing now? Did you and Mr E Vet deduce that it was just a bad case of the moults? If its any consolation, mine (particlularly Alfie) has a bad case of the moults to the point of making me think that he is sick. Only thing I can think of what with budgie breeding in the UK they must have bread in the imperfection that they moult more severely than what they used to because of the size of the bird and feathers? Just a thought

Good to hear that Piper is looking lovely again. Strangely, over the last couple of days Cagney has sprouted some pin feathers on his head. Up until this point, he hasn't really had any outward signs of moulting.

Just a thought Cagney is back to normal now. Even the pink bits in his feet are pink, not white. Off topic... That last sentence makes me think of Michael Palin in Ripping Yarns as Eric Olthwaite. His mother makes pudding so black, that even the white bits are black. The assumption is that it was moult related though it seems strange that he's suffered worse moults before as far as pin feathers etc. & hasn't appeared sick. Cagney is my 'pet' type so should, I imagine, have less health imperfections than exhibition types. That said, in the ol' days, budgies seemed to live longer anyway, even under worse conditions/diet so something must be up.

Oh, dear. I do hope B is okay, sweetpea. He's fine seconds afterwards, acting like nothing had happened. My heart just sinks into my boots though...

I can imagine; mine does the same when I see Smudge straining or squeaking to pass a poop.

Well Bezukhov appears to have taken over Cagney's thread. He's had 6 seizures in 5 days, 2 of which were today. I have booked him in with the vet tomorrow (no offence, but I'm sick of the sight of her!) for a vitamin B injection, on the assumption that his moult may be making it worse for him. Sigh.
