Hello - can you help? (based in Crawley-West Sussex) I rescued 2 female budgies just under a year ago from a family going through a difficult time. The girls adapted well to living with my existing male budgie , but, as time goes on, they are pecking him and he just does not seem as happy as he was. So, I have decided to look for a new home for them. I have been advertising them on various newspaper sites but I have not had the right sort of people replying and so a friend suggested I try this site. Can you offer them a suitable home? As explained, 2 female budgies, very well bonded so would not separate. They were very young when I got them so I am guessing that they are not much more than a year old. One is green and the other is turquoise. I will try and attach photo's when I have worked out how to do it! They currently share a cage with my male but they are free to fly around our conservatory (and house) throughout the day, only going in the cage to roost at night. They are then bought into the kitchen and covered with a blanket at night. They are not tame birds (ie not interested in sitting on your finger). I have made them a budgie gym and they have fresh bamboo everyday to peck and tear up (and make a dreadful mess). I would really love to see them flying around an avery with other birds. I would not consider a home where they would be kept in a cage for long periods because they are used to being free. In my advert, I requested that I would sell them for £30, this would be then donated to the RSPB. I really only did this to deter unsuitable people phoning. But if you do want to make a donation to the RSPB or maybe even to this forum for its up keep that would be great. Please do be prepared for me to ask lots of questions, although I suspect that you will all be very experienced bird keepers and will no far more than I do . I really hope somebody out there can help and look very much forward to using this forum in the future. Many thanks

Hi there Welcome. I do hope that you find a suitable home for your two birds. Do you have a photograph of them please? It does help. Oh and do they have names? Marianne

To post pictures you need to upload them to photobucket or other image hosting site. Good luck finding them a new home.

Why are all of these rehoming requests so far away from me? I'd take them but Crawley is a bit far.

Hello dazandloz Are you North of Hampshire? I would consider driving them to you if you are serious about having them. I am currently trying to work out how to upload photo's but so far, the suggestions I have been given are not working (possibly me being a plonker ). If you would like me to email photos, I would be happy to do that until I can work out how to do it. Many thanks

Pout!!! mrsfuffsters, I hope you have success with your two hens; you are doing the right things by asking questions and checking out prospective new owners .......... I reckon you would make a fierce mother-in-law. In a good way, of course.

I am in Pamber Heath which is about 6 miles north of Basingstoke. I would even be happy to meet you half way just to make it easier for both of us. I adopted a young male from another lady last year off this forum, and he is doing absolutely peachy. He's got himself a young girlfriend bless him, she follows him all day long!! If you like I can PM you my email address if you are having problems uploading photos, or email them to Marianne and she will upload them for you.
I have a dedicated bird shed, 10' x 8' in which there is an indoor flight of 6' long x 3' deep x 5' high, which is linked to an outdoor flight that I have just built budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/10724/new-outside-aviary-flight I have 10 birds in total, including 2 pairs that are in purpose built breeding cages. I have one 16 day old chick with one pair, and the other pair are sitting currently on 5 eggs. Her first round was a no score bless her, so hoping for better this time around otherwise she will be rested and the pair will be returned to the main flight until next year.
I most certainly have the space and would love to adopt them. They will NOT be separated or sold. My breeding is solely for me gaining a bigger collection of birds. I have no intention to sell birds. Please feel free to read through my breeding thread budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/10433/update-first-breeding-experience and you will see my devotion to my birds. I actually spend more time with them than I do with my wife, and that's no joke! You may ask any question you like, I will not be offended. The earliest I could collect is Friday. I'm currently on a week of nights, but my last shift finishes at 0200 hrs on Friday morning. I am happy to make a donation either to the RSPB or to this site if that is your wish.
Kindest regards
Darren

Unfortunately, they were not being very photogenic yesterday . We would be very happy to take the birds all the way to you as would love to see your shed first hand! Its just perfect. Got all blubbery when I saw it. I will wait to receive your email address. Thank you so much, I am very excited. Andrea

I realise that this matter might be sorted now but I will upload the photos and text that you emailed me "Hello Thank you for offering to upload these pictures for me. I think Darren may take them but if not, please can you upload. Their names originally were Bodie (blue) and Doyle (green) as we thought they were boys. But their ceres changed colour and so they became Boadicea and Doyletta. Boadicea is incredibly naughty and it always poking her beak into places where she is not wanted. She is always the last in the cage at night also. Thank you for your help. Andrea x"

Gorgeous little girls. Sounds like this is another success story. Not only are the people on this forum incredibly funny, they are also incredibly good hearted. That's why I enjoy this group of people so much.
