Yay!!! The buds are coming tomorrow afternoon thanks to mrsfuffsters. I will get some photos of them and post them up. No, massive thank you to you! I am so relieved that they are going to a lovely home. Hey, just a thought, as you have such a good heart, do you have a pond? Only, I rescued a huge amount of tadpoles from a puddle over the forest last month. The puddle was drying up and they would have all perished. Now starting to get loads of froglets in our tank in the kitchen. I was out this am trying to catch flies for them, badly. Im only joking really. Hubby is out in the garden as we speak digging a hole so that we make make a mini pond for them. All for the love of all things great and small. See you tomorrow.

Unfortunately Andrea I do not have a pond. I used to have a huge pond with koi about 20 years ago, and frogs/toads were an enemy to young fry, so I done everything to discourage them for fear of losing expensive koi babies. I think it best that you keep the tadpoles. They'll look lovely in your new pond

Just feel the need to point out that it's not a good idea to transfer frogs or anything related to them from one pond to another. Here's a link to explain www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/frogs-gardens829.html#crI realise you weren't going to but just in case someone else reads this and thinks it's a good idea.

Hello...having just read this thread I'm hoping possibly Darren @ dazandloz may be able to help?
I found a young bud in our garden about 5 weeks ago, exhausted, very hungry and being pestered by wild birds. We rescued him (we think he is a he) and gave him a temporary home in a modified cat carrier. Beau (we named him) perked up after a few days of rest and food and we have become quite attached as he is incredibly friendly. We put notices up in our local vets, and spread the word in our local area, but nobody has come forward saying they have lost him. Since then Beau has been upgraded to a new large cage, and he spends most days out flying in our bedroom only going back in the cage to roost at night. Sadly we have 2 cats so he is limited on where he can go.
We both work long hours and because of the cats it is impractical that we keep him, but i'm in 2 minds about re homing him as he is now used to flying out. I really didn't want him spending his life in a cage so was looking for someone with an aviary with other birds so he can fly and have friends.
I have considered getting him a friend but my practical head is telling me it's not going to work with the cats in the house.
We are based in central London but I would be willing to travel any distance to find him the right aviary home. As with mrsfuffsters I will be very selective to the home he goes to. Darren's aviary sounds perfect but if that's not possible then I would need to find something similar before I'd consider letting him go.
I have photos I can post or mail....I will also attempt to upload here.
Thanks
Kate

Oh my, I am becoming the home for wayward budgies lol kiwikate if you can put up some photos or send them to Marianne that would be great. I'm sure that once mrsfuffsters drops her 2 off she will be happy to recommend me for your bird. I'm sure we can come to some sort of arrangement, unless there is someone closer who could help? I'm about 6 miles south of Jct 11 on the M4 which is the Reading/Basingstoke turn. The wife has just read your post and says we have to have him, so it's up to you. There is plenty of space here! Daz

Thank you Marianne and Darren...I will email pics across now. Darren I am more than happy to drive to you, I have seen the photos of your aviary and it looks amazing. We are hoping little Beau is a boy...you might think otherwise when you see the photos. :-) ...and he is a chatty little guy.

What a pair you and your good lady are Daz. It is surprising how these things take off (no pun intended). I am far too far for the south of England. I am now restricting my driving range to no more than 100 miles in one go.

Maybe we should set up a section for people willing to take in birds.

Good idea starlingqueen. Best put my name down then lol I've just been in the shed reassessing the space I have, and the possibility of a much bigger indoor flight, and using my current one as another. I will not be moving into my workshop which is a 20x10 shed, I will not, I will not...... I must resist.......

Thanks Marianne. I think Beau could be a girl looking at the third photo with the white nostril rings, but it is still difficult to tell, very young too around 4-6 months. Looks nice and healthy. I'm sure there is a place here for her/him.
