No, absolutely not neat, the hydrogen peroxide, I mean. Neat is about 35% as I know it, I think you must need to go back to the site to find if they give some dilution ratio. For ingestion is is supposed to be about 3%. I don't know for sores, although I do remember seeing some sources that say using the 3% for wounds etc. Shirls, I don't mean to go against anyone who has treated this problem - if other s have had success with epsom salts then go for it. I can only make comment on the organisms, as I know them, but maybe there is something about Epsom salts that makes it work. I don't know. I really don't know, haven't had to go there. Edit: you must have posted while I was replying, so there you have it, H2O

I really think that we are using and doing what we can H2O. I don't believe in trying so many different things to cure bumblefoot. I don't think mixing up all these treatments is a good idea. Barrie Shutt always gives good advice and I am inclined to stick to his advice. Brilliant links about the Fucidin cream for chickens (I have chickens, so it is handy to know. I also go on the Back Yard Chicken Forum where you got the advice from). I would let you know and be very aware that somebody on here had a friend look after their budgie and the friend used a chicken remedy for it and made the poor budgie very ill. So PLEASE take good advice before using anything prescribed for another animal.

So, how are our sore-footed budgies getting on??? H2O, Shirls?? Agree with you, Shirls, about mixing and chopping and changing treatments. You do need to give each one the opportunity to work. Everything about bumblefoot indicated that treatment is a long term thing, not an overnight cure, unfortunately.

I have now stuck with the Epson Salts foot spa with Harvey now Hezz. I wrote it down somewhere when I started, heaven knows where I put it, but it must be about 4 days I think. When I looked at one of his feet last night, it did, in my opinion, look less red in colour and nice and dry (and clean!!). I may have to put some cream on his feet just to moisturise them a bit later on. He does ignore me for a short while after the foot bath, but millet usually brings him round pretty quickly. He is a little monkey as all buds are on meds, and screams the house down when I catch him to bathe his feet, but when it is done and I bring him back he wonders what he was screaming about. He seems very happy in his 'hospital' cage and has three visitors every day, usually ALL day!! He loves being able to go to the feeding station without being chased away by either of the girls too. Thank you for asking.

Update.... I have been washing Ruby's feet with Cidal Soap twice a day...I remember my friends Doctor recommended this for her many years ago when she had problems with her skin and it was so good...reckoned if it works for us it may well help my Ruby. After washing her feet I am gently applying Fucidin cream, have spoken about it in my previous posts above....I can really say, even after just two days of treatment, the inflammation has gone and there is only one small remains of a blister on her heal. When I get her out later tonight I will take another photo to post asap...anything is worth a try and I feel this is working....she appears so much brighter and can actually move around without constantly holding up her feet ....I know it won't be everyone's idea of treating Bumble Foot but it's working so I'm pleased. x LINK: www.boots.com/en/Cidal-Soap-Twin-Pack_1001058/

Sidly had very bad bumble foot a few years ago (there is a photo of his feet on barrie shutts website). I had also never used any sand paper perches etc.. I believe his feet were a symptom of his other underlying problems to come - liver disease mainly. Anyways the vets gave me tubes of fuciderm which were very expensive and didn't work at all... In the end huge amounts of savlon did the trick. I also used only gave him soft rope perches until his feet had healed. I hope ruby's feet continue to improve!

Great news about Ruby's feet, H2O. Who cares what it is, as long as it works! It might help another person out sometime, as well. So happy both sore-footed budgies are doing better.

Can I ask H2O how long you have had to do this with the Cidal soap and the Fucidin? My Harvey has had his bumble foot now for about 4 weeks. Fortunately I caught it very early and treated it initially with Savlon. He is now on Epson Salt foot baths and has been for 7 days. He only has a tiny red spot on each foot, it is perfectly flat and no rough skin or blisters or nasty bits.

I have been cleaning Ruby's feet since last Sunday...bathing with Cidal and applying Fucidin cream in the morning and applying Sudocrem in the evening...she does seem a lot happier and has been cleaning herself again as I had noticed she had stopped for a while...her feet were so sore she couldn't perch properly to clean herself but now she is doing this again and she's joining in with the others....it's only been a week but compared to last weeks photos it's a definite improvement.

I also used only gave him soft rope perches until his feet had healed. Great idea...can anyone please tell me, if a Budgie has persistent Bumble Foot and even after making it better it comes back, can Budgies live happily on rope perches permanently or do they need to go back to branches? Thanks

That is absolutely fantastic H2O! What a result! Ruby must be feeling loads better. I am going to follow suit and get some Cidal soap and Fucidin. Had a look for Cidal soap this morning in Asda but they didn't have any, so will research on-line for both items and go shopping again. Thank you so much for letting me (and others)know. Harvey's feet are no worse and no better, so I think he needs a change of medication. Thanks again.

H2O, Ruby's feet look so good now! How well have you done?? I think this is great, we have two different treatments, both showing good results, just to show others are not restricted to only one particular treatment. Regarding rope perches, are you able to provide a mixture of perches, rope (I am presuming you are meaning cotton?), sisal rope, and one or two natural branch perches of different diameters? That is probably the best mix for someone like Ruby. You would just need to keep an eye on her claws to be sure that they are getting the wear that is needed.
