I rang vet this morning and am awaiting them to ring me back: initially about my dog and gene one of my other budgies - will ask about Bertie.

How long is he supposed to be on the ronivet for? I would continue giving him it until you decide what to do.

Bertie is back on his antibiotics from vets. He just seems to have been poorly for so long; i hate to see him suffering.

I'm sorry to hear that Bertie is still unwell. We still have fingers (and wings) crossed for him.

Oh god, he's just been really sick, loads of it. Now he's eating his millet. I'm ringing vet tomorrow, I just don't know what to do with him to help him. I'm worried he is going to starve to death. Eating, then throwing it back up. Hubby doesn't think they will do anything other than offer to put him to sleep or say do bloods and X-ray. Hubby doesn't want an old bird having to be put through the latter, and I agreed, but at my wits end now.

Does your vet have out of hours, you could phone and chat now?
It's odd unless birds do do that, vomit and eat... Sorry not sure what to suggest, but feel for you

Only other thing I can think of is megabacteria. I don't know a lot about that.

Poor Bertie, poor you. I am afraid the only other suggestion I was going to make, Marianne Marlow already has. The tricho plus obviously hasn't been a great deal of help.

It did give him a good 4 days of no sick, I was thankful for that and I am sure Bertie was. Rang vet at 8.30am this morning, they don't have an avian vet in until Tuesday! Said I could take him down but I just thought what was the point if there was no avian vet!! So have wrapped a warm blanket around his cage - he can still see out the front - I've cleaned him all up and his cage and put in new water with his antibiotics and food. Put him in a quiet place so hopefully he can just rest. My poor Bertie. Feel so bad for him. Feel I am not doing my best for him but don't know what else to do.

you are doing your best.. and hopefully once his sick will ease up.
it is so frustrating that so few avians around... maybe they feel no need, as a lot of them never need vets.. but such a shame.
are there any others slightly further you could get to? although would the necessarily be there before Tuesday.. this is the thing.
Is he sleeping a lot in there, if not, maybe if you are not in there a lot, put on a radio softly.
it is so hard when they cannot tell you what's wrong and just you see them sick and not well :-(
maybe the antibiotics are upsetting him a bit too? so whilst you need to give them, could they then upset the system.. they do me.. make me sick mostly...
not saying don't give them, but wonder if sick is from that rather than the cause of the sick, if that makes sense?

Just got back from the vet with Bertie; got a bit of a telling off for buying medicine on the internet and not from them or at least consulting them before I gave it him. Rather put out to be honest. I don't have a lot of money and have just lost my job in August. I'd lost track of amount of times he has been and its £23 just to walk in with him, then the medicines on top of that. Of course it is not the vets fault it hasn't worked, it's just one of them things but just ended up being made to feel humiliated that I'd not consulted them first, they'd of only said come in and I'd of been charged again. I was only trying to help my budgie!! Anyway, enough of how I feel and back to how Bertie feels. He got weighed, I know he is 46g as I have been weighing him this last week but couldn't remember what he was when he was last at vets, about the same they say so he hasn't lost weight. Still puking most of the day, every day. Spoke about megabacteria, vet said it could be that but there is no cure and medicines to treat it cause serious issues with kidneys. Vet suggested sending stool samples off but it just isnt an option with no wage coming in. Vet suggested cooking egg and potato and mashing it up instead of millet and seeds. Am boiling eggs as we speak. Ah. 8 weeks he has been like this. Don't see point in taking him back to the vet anymore.
