I only water mine night and morning with a fine mist spray. Now that mine are growing, I will follow that advice. I think it was a good soaking that started the process, because I bought a big bag of millet so it was quite dry, and the seeds I used were the ones that had gathered in the bottom of the bag.

My shoots are almost an inch long now and turning green.
Do you just trim some off and it grows again, like grass, or do you have to plant more?

That's exactly what you do.
I get a smallish bunch an put a cable tie round the ends, then attach that to a cage clip.

I have a few more shoots but it definitely does not look like your picture. Next time I go grocery shopping, I'll stop by my local bird store and see if they have fresher millet.

I've been moving mine around the house to the warmest, sunniest spot through the day and trying to leave it somewhere warm overnight. Talk about mollycoddling! I'm determined that this will work!

I sprinkled a few more millet seeds in the bald spaces a few days ago, which are shooting now.
I think mine was red millet. I keep it on the window sill and turn it twice a day.

I'm going to guess I'm not going to be a winner here due to complete lack or growing ability and it being colder up north - they're my excuses anyway and I'm sticking to them ( jellybean please don't remind me that your pot of lush green grass was also grown not too far from here!) blue48 I agree I need to keep turning the pot, the tiny little shoots I have all grow towards the light really quickly.

Abysmal failure here! I have a few blades. My plan is to let those grow and see if Buddy likes it. If he does I'll get fresh seed and try again.
