Thanks tweetiepiesmom but seriously that is the limit of my gardening ability - I am quite pleased with myself though

tweetiepiesmom the grass looks great, I bet the boys will be over like a shot! I seem to have ended up with a little snack bar for Willow. Bottom left is the millet grass grown from the spray millet as jellybean recommended, top left is a pot of spray millet with a few lettuce seedlings, top right is Haith's Easisoak seed which I thought I would try planting (as you can see it's gone crazy - I think it's the black rape which came through first), middle right is the pot of weed seeds (I can see vetch but I'm not sure what the others are yet) and bottom right is a mix of canary seed and mixed millet which I thought I would try planting. They're doing well in front of a sunny window and Willow loves everything he's tried so far. Success! How great is all of that?? And how good do you feel, giving him all these gorgeously fresh foods to tuck into? He's a spoilt little fella to be sure.

Thanks Hezz and blue48. It's nice to know that there's no nasties on them. I haven't given Willow free access to the pots though, I just snip a few leaves and clip them to his bars. I'm such a meanie but the way that he rips the leaves apart normally means that all my hard work would be devastated in seconds

I don't blame you willowsmum, Bertie obliterated my Boston Fern and it wasn't even meant for him. I did check that it was safe.

I am growing out some bird seed right now. It is going well. I used a blend of different seeds that I offer to my parakeets and finches. This is after five days. And here it is after one week. I trimmed some of the green leaves today to feed to the birds. They loved the fresh mixed salad. Lots of happy chitters. I came back to an empty bowl after about five minutes of furious feasting.

BertieB still likes his millet grass but after a few nibbles he chucks the container off his cage. I think he has been a bit spoilt by the seeding grasses. I must go out and pick some more for him today.
