that is poor.. re your line manager. do you get paid when sick or do you have to claim it?
yes, the quicker you have it, the quicker you can get back to normality [/quote]
Luckily I get paid. I work at the hospital itself and in particular next to the path lab where I went this morning, had visions of bumping into her!! Thankfully oncology is other end of hospital so no worries tomorrow 😳

Hope the appointment with the oncologist goes well tomorrow. Hopefully they’ll get you booked in for your first cycle and you can start to prepare for it. I think it depends on the type of chemo as to what potential side effects there can be but off the top of my head I recall those I know who’ve had it recommend mints, lip balm, hand cream and skin moisturiser, a soft blanket and things like fluffy cosy socks if you feel cold and cool pads and hand fans if you feel hot. I’m sure you’ll get loads of advice from the oncology nurses.
Really glad you’re feeling more energised. There’s always someone like that at work, isn’t there. 🙄 Glad you went over her head and don’t have to worry about work. You can concentrate on what you need to.

I hope tomorrow goes well and that you can get the chemo started asap. It's good that your energy levels are up as it will give you the best starting point for the next phase of the treatment.
Sorry to hear your line manager is such a pain but it's great that you got the support you need (and deserve) from over her head. Focus on your health and wellbeing and try to put work stresses out of your mind if you can.

So glad to hear that the surgery went well clt80. So happy to see you optimistic and happy. You will be all well, fine and soon this will be history to remember later. This event in your life will really change your approach towards life and make it really positive and much better. I have changed a lot post my hubby's brain stroke. It's easier to choose now to stay close to positive people and things, value genuine people & leave the rest, value the importance of love and just choose to stay happy while I can 🧡 All the best for Chemo!! Keep your spirits up! Love and hugs 🧡🤗

Thanks for the well wishes I'm on chemo now, first cycle done and currently on a week break. Next cycle starting Monday providing today's bloods didn't show anything obscure. I have serious brain fog, I may be repeating myself here. All still very surreal. Met my surgeon last Tuesday, my hero, and he confirmed i have a hernia which he will operate on after chemo has finished. I know when I did it, it was the day after the op trying to move in bed nd I felt a painful rip. Thought i had bust sutures but it wasn't, was muscle/tissue or whatever underneath. Anyone is a minor thing so not concerned about that. We are hoping to go away with Lexie in the campervan week after next, just for a change off scenery for me, providing I'm well enough. The first cycle I was fine for 10 or so days then next thing it feels like a bus has hit you. Least it shows the chemo is doing its job so no complaints from me.

So glad it’s not too bad. A change of scene will be great. Bummer about the hernia but as you say, it’s minor. Hopefully it will all be a distant memory, before you know it

Hoping that you have the best possible outcome from the chemo even if you need to toughen up a bit and just push through the rough bits. Also hoping this will just be a distant memory soon as ffiscool says.

It'll be nice for you to get away after all you have been through.
I take it you have someone coming to feed and water the budglings while you're away?

Yes, we have several sets of people who will help us - our folks and one of our neighbour's. It will be our neighbour's who will come and tend to them, any who are inside on meds go to my mums:)
