I don't know what elm tree bark will do but perhaps someone else knows? I read that Elm bark is the active ingredient in S76. I've watch some amazing youtube videos where breeders make there own medicines from things like apple cider vinegar, hot chills and garlic which each can all be used to treat a number of things.

I'll be sure to get some. I need to get some more budgie seed tomorrow anyway so I'll see I can find any S76.
My budgie has been much better today with no screaming although noisy at times but nothing he was before. He is a lot more calm now and happier. They are all chirping away happily.
I have names for all my budgies now... The white budgie is called Jessie - I'm unsure sure if she is male or female but I think she is female. The green & yellow one is called Mango - he is bonded with Jessie The yellow one is called Tweety - she is somewhat bonded with MR Noisy but its not as strong. The blue, yellow and grey budgie is - MR Noisy

After watching MR Noisy this morning I noticed that something randomly freaks him out. He can be all relaxed on his perch or feeding and then all of a sudden something would freak him out and he would jump up flapping his wings and doing a danger chirp setting all the other budgies off. It might be normal budgie behavior but I haven't noticed any of the other three do that.

Handsome boy but what is setting him off?
My budgies, especially Eeyore, will sometimes kick off like they've just been robbed. I don't always know the cause!

I have no idea. My guess would be his wild instinct kicking in. His lost a lot of his tameness since his been with the others. When I got the other budgies that was probably the first time he had ever seen another budgie. When it goes quiet maybe he senses danger.

MR Noisy was bobbing his head making lots of noise this morning. I opened the door on there cage but they wasn't all that interested in coming out. When they are out of the cage they tend to perch somewhere and not really fly around much. I got them some more things to play with and I'm going to look for some more willow branches for them.

Is there somewhere the budgies can go to forage for treats? I have a wooden tray with a perch and a swing (that Herman loves) and I fill the tray with recycled paper pellets plus seeds or lentil sprouts or occasionally sweetcorn. My flock go mad for this facility, it's a focal point for socialisation (and squabbling!). I've also got plants dotted around that they are allowed to destroy - living herb pots from the supermarket. These are hugely popular too.

My flock go mad for this facility, it's a focal point for socialisation (and squabbling!). I've also got plants dotted around that they are allowed to destroy - living herb pots from the supermarket. These are hugely popular too. Not at the moment, all there treats and there food stays in there cage. They have been getting a lot of veg mainly broccoli, cabbage, spinach and kale plus oatmeal plus there regular budgie seed. I made some carrot sticks for them but they didn't really eat them. Today they will have a seed mixture I got from the pet shop. If I put there treats outside there cage they might not ever go back in there cage.
I have thought about sprouting some seeds to feed them. Do they eat cress? I could grow some cress for them... I'll look in to that later. My budgies aren't allowed to destroy my house plants, they don't really pay much attention to them apart from Tweety who loves to munch on Pothos but I get her off in time. Once I build my aviary they will be spoiled with all kinds of things plus a mini willow tree or two they can perch in and chew. I'm looking forward to building the aviary, I'm going to be making the main frame from 4 wooden bunk beds "cheaper than buying timber" then I'll be getting the aviary wire.

My budgies are mad for salad cress. It's ridiculously cheap from the supermarket, easily the best bang-per-buck I've found.
All my houseplants are kept away from the birds. They would happily destroy them and I don't want that. What the birds have access to are those herb plant pots that the supermarket sells - basil, mint, chives, coriander, thyme etc. Plus grass grown from seed, that's very popular too.
This setup works for me as my birds spend much of their waking hours out of their cages. They are free to come and go. They all gravitate to the aviaries at the end of the day, or if I close the curtains to simulate night-night time. Other folks have other routines.

Awesome I could probably grow most of that stuff. It would be nice if I could create a little grassland for them in the aviary I'll be making them.
I let them all out this morning for a fly around and Tweety landed on my hand although I don't think she meant to, she is a bit of a clumsy flyer. MR Noisy didn't want to fly to me at all or step up.
I can let MR Noisy out unsupervised as he seemed to be well trained but he will want to be out with the others. MR Noisy has his own cage on hand encase he ever wanted time to himself and I can leave the cage door open so that he can come and go when he wants.

This morning at 6:00 AM MR Noisy was screaming again none stop, I was really struggling to get him to settle and its taken a lot of hours to finally get him to calm down. He will be going to the vets tomorrow afternoon to get him checked out. I really need to think of something long term for him if he is going to be screaming like this because I have my neighbors to consider plus hearing him in distress is not nice for him or me or my other budgies. The vets may give him the all clear.
There is a chance Tweety could be male. Tweety has been chirping like a male and chirping a lot which might explain why MR Noisy hasn't bonded with Tweety. I've done horribly at identifying what budgies are male and female. Jessie is a confirmed female who is bonded with Mango who is male so I have 3 males and 1 female in this case.
Is it ok to have only one female with 3 males? it could be why MR Noisy keeps becoming so unsettled if they are fighting for the only female?

MR Noisy has been checked over by the vet and they couldn't find anything wrong so its a behavioral issue which I have caused accidentally. He was so tame before I got the other budgies, however he was abandoned by his previous owner so perhaps he always had this behavioral issue before I will never know.
I do feel responsible because I was the person who rescued him ensuring that he gets the best care but I;ve done the opposite and messed up his personalty. I really miss him sitting on my head and shoulders. Everything went a bit to fast when I got him. I wasn't planing on having pet budgies but when I rescued this little feller I decided to get him some friends after researching that budgies are flock birds and should not be alone, this is partly inaccurate because some budgies can be alone as long as they have toys in there cage and regular interaction from there owner. I did not know that at the time. I thought I was helping him by getting him some budgie friends and that has now damaged his personalty, he has lost his tameness and screams very loudly a lot.
I have made a decision to find him a new home as he needs a higher level of care than what I can give him. I can not deal with his screaming anymore its to much. It will just leave me frustrated and stressed myself which isn't going to be good for me or the other budgies. Its not an easy decision to make but I have 3 other budgies to care for and its not going to be good if they start stressing out. Mango was a bit stressed this morning. Tweety is male so I will have to re-name him. So I have 3 males and only one female. I'm going to miss MR Noisy I'm already missing him and he hasn't even gone yet.
