I've got three budgies refusing to go to bed. It's a protest over Squeak's incarceration, I'm certain of it.
I'd hate to see a serious fight amongst my gang!

My boys got to bed at 22:25 which is about normal. Turning down the light had a calming effect so I will try that during the day tomorrow if I need to calm Dexter down. Turning off the tv might have a similar effect.
The budgie madness is definitely being fuelled by Dexter. When he calms down harmony is restored. I really hope he gets this budgie madness out of his system soon. At times Rito has looked really tired and he's wanted a bit of a rest but Dexter was far too excited. He's always been a full on but Rito is the first friend that has tried to match him.
Dexter and Aster had another nice moment once the lights were dimmed, so I do feel hopeful that they can get along. As long as Dexter calms down.

I hope Dexter makes the adjustment, I'm sure he will. He is just too highly delighted with his new friends.
Ten o'clock finish for my guys (usually 7.30) and Prothall never made it to bed. He's up in the sky snake. Silly boy.

I dunno. I look away for one day. Fingers crossed they settle down again, Criswell. It probably doesn't help that Rito's in his teenage phase. We'll blame his father. Indie likes to make his jealousy issues known.

Thanks Ira. We have a different dynamic this morning. Aster is exerting his dominance, and Rito is trying to pacify him. The first interaction of the morning was Aster beak bashing and feeding Rito. Then Rito and Dexter had a little chat until Aster chased Dexter away. Then Rito came out to chat with Dexter under close supervision from Aster, followed by Rito chatting to Aster on top of the cage. Rito and Dexter are calmer around each other today which is a relief but are still very keen to play with each other. Rito has chased Aster away once but when the three of them have been on top of the cage Aster has chased Dexter away. Rather than competing over Dexter today it looks like Aster is upset that Dexter has taken Rito away from him. Dexter is looking confused about it all. I've just had Dexter and Aster and then Rito and Aster share a bobble of millet, and all 3 sat next to each other on the top of the cage, so their differences aren't stronger than millet.

I'm glad there's been progress in the peace process, Criswell. Hopefully the beginning of a detente. Squeak has been calmer today, so far. One disagreement with Chocobo over laundry basket privileges but that was sorted out without anyone resorting to nukes. I think there is a lot of tension and competition between the hens over nest sites, notwithstanding the fact there are no nest sites.

I dunno, those kitchen cubbies look promising, loz The hens keep visiting them. I can actually hear the cogs whirring. "These seem like the perfect nest sites, why won't Daddeh attach covers with hen-sized openings to them? Doesn't he want clutch after clutch of cute babbeh budgehs?"

Oh dear, so many naughty budgies. Must be something in the air.. loz that is so funny, yours got to bed a lot later and one refused to come in! I have 10 but two of them stay in their cage all day, so you have twice the trouble in the evening that I do. That's why I insist that mine have the same routine every night and stay in the same cages, letting them choose would be bedlam!

They'll cavity seek whether it's appropriate or not. Gwen used to look down the back of photos on the wall or into the crack between door and bookcase.
