Rito is a force of nature at the moment. I don't blame them for not standing up for themselves. I'm not sure that any budgie could. Except maybe Gwen.
He is an extraordinary budgie, not scared of anything. Any new thing in the lounge he wants almost straight away. I just put a new plastic cog winder toy in his cage that's as big as him and he's not scared of it. I'm in the teaching room with him and he's watching me typing with his head on one side. He would love to be let out but I can't risk it as I start teaching at 4pm. I'll probably pop his cage back in the lounge.
It's early days yet, but it looks like relations between Dexter and Aster have already improved from strained to cordial.

Aye aye aye... he's a conundrum that boy. Clearly Gwen and Indie were not a good match.

Ira they have certainly produced unique offspring Maybe he should be the start of his own dynasty of super brave explorer budgies. I'm not sure if the world is ready for that though! I put him back in the lounge while I was teaching. The little rascal escaped from the small cage because the side door was shut but not latched. It was a huge surprise to see him in the big cage with Dexter. He's still with them and he's behaved himself. I now know what happens when one highly strung excitable budgie meets another. 1 Highly strung excitable budgie + 1 young highly strung excitable budgie = 2 hyper excitable highly strung budgies
