They'll cavity seek whether it's appropriate or not. Gwen used to look down the back of photos on the wall or into the crack between door and bookcase. In all seriousness, I have a chocobo to keep my hens honest. The hens know that any nest site would have to be Chocobo-proof. I am exceedingly careful about ensuring no such sites exist.

Thanks for asking loz. It was calmer than it has been the past 2 evening. Dexter and Rito are still very keen on each other but have been spending a bit more time apart. There's been a bit of chasing but not as much as there was. Rito and Aster have been interacting a bit more and had some chats but Rito has still chased him off a couple of times. Dexter was quite wary of Aster after Aster was chasing him this morning but they did have a little chat with the safety of a toy between them. So all in all, it's been a more relaxed evening, all thought they all came bursting out of the cage about 10.15 just as I was about to shut the doors but after a mad fly around they went in quite quickly and settled down on swings, and were tucking in before 10.30. I'm glad your flock got to bed at a more normal bedtime tonight. Did Squeak play nicely today?

Squeak was very well-behaved today. A slight disagreement with Smudge at one point but within the realms of acceptable behaviour.
Eeyore & Hector had one of their rare disagreements. Eeyore eventually climbed away but for some reason, Smudge decided it was all Hector's fault and grabbed one of his flight feathers. I broke that up straight away but I couldn't be mad at Smudge for trying to keep the peace.

Eeyore and Hector arguing? I wouldn't have thought Hector would want to strain himself and Eeyore looks so gentle.

Eeyore and Hector arguing? I wouldn't have thought Hector would want to strain himself and Eeyore looks so gentle. It's rare but it's happened a few times now. It's always been when the two are sat together but one of them is in the way. They are both too lazy to move out of each other's way so the one wanting to move starts complaining and it goes from there. Lot's of beak opening, "starling noises" and perhaps a lunge to the chest. Brutal

I've just watched Smudge send Boba squealing out of the cage. Boba took refuge with some budgies in the Forage Gym. Chocobo then flew into the cage and in a marvellous moment of misjudgement, Smudge thought she would send Chocobo packing. Not happening, Smudge.
Oh the drama!

Young budgie sentenced to over night imprisonment
Last night in Cardiff, a young budgie who goes by the name of Rito Dorito Terito was sentenced to immediate imprisonment for rabble rousing, incitement to riot and assault.
Earlier in the day Mr Terito was seen jumping on the victim, Mr Dexter, and stealing his millet. His harassment of Mr Dexter and his companion Mr Aster continued throughout the day, and mayhem ensued.
The situation escalated around 5pm when Mr Terito jumped on Mr Dexter and held him down, but ran off when approached by the police. Mr Dexter was unharmed. Mr Terioto was cautioned and a prison cell was made ready. At 9pm Mr Terito again assaulted Mr Dexter in the same manner, causing Mr Dexter to struggle to get away, and the police were called to break up the incident. The assailant again fled the scene but police waited outside Mr Terito's house until he returned home and after a considerable struggle he was apprehended and immediately placed in police custody. Mr Terito proceeded to sing very loudy in defiance of the law.
Mr Terito spend the night in prison, but on appeals and protests from Mr Dexter and Mr Aster he was released, on probation at 11am this morning, causing much excitement and chaos. Although Mr Terito has been cautioned for chasing Mr Aster, and for contributing the the general mayhem in the area, there have been no further assaults and he has been very friendly and respectful to Mr Dexter, and has also spent time playing with Mr Aster. After a very hectic morning a measure of calm has been restored this evening.
In his defence, Mr Terito is young and excitable and full of hormones, and the constant attention he's received from Mr Dexter may have gone to his head. The budgie prision cell remains in a prominent position in the hopes that it will act as a deterent to further bad behaviour.

Justice is swift and sure in Cardiff, and everyone should be grateful for that!

For the first time today the three of them are silent! They are all in the cage preening which might keep them busy for a few minutes.

Sounds like Rito was lucky that Dexter refused to press charges.

Dexter was very forgiving and has had lots of kisses from Rito to make up for it.

Mr Rito Dorito Terito was involved in another incident earlier this evening. Just seconds after he was praised with the words "I'm very pleased I haven't had to put you back in prison" Mr Terito proceeded to stand on the top of Mr Dexter's tail, just below his bottom. Mr Dexter was not alarmed by the incident, and normal activities were resumed straight away. Spirits were high at the time so it seems likely that this was a genuine accident, and Mr Terito was given the benefit of the doubt, and no action was taken.
