It could have been something like having him outside for a bit of sunshine, Moogie. A friend of mine had to move a wee sunbirds' nest a while back, and she said she was covered with mites when she went back inside. So Elfie probably just got unlucky! But back to your question, yes, 6 months from his last treatment. The timing doesn't have to be spot on down to the correct day - remember that that treatment will be a preventative, rather than trying to cure him, which is what you are doing now. I am just so glad that you now have a reason for Elfie's scruff-bag look ........ things can be hard to treat if you don't know the cause. It looks like he is barbering to me. I have an African Grey who looks just the same. He has been clipping bits off his feathers (barbering) for years, he also plucks. Here is a picture of a barbering bird. He has been doing abit of this only since the mites arrived though,also i read that the mites nore the feathers,i think his feathers are looking abit better though since his first mite treatment

Thanks BGM...he had his second treatment today-i am now able to get him with a sneaky swift movement of the hand when he is sitting on my finger he he and feel alot more confident with doing this and holding him PHEW my O/H helped by dropping on the spot on as i held Elf feather back....MASSIVE phew,now we have to do it all again in a month but i know now it will be fine

He is really lively Marianne,constantly chirping bobbing head jumping around,he has one more treatment in 4 weeks now
