Just noticed in your original post that you said you decorated? Sorry if I am taking this literally but did you re-arrange Tink's cage or were you referring that you decorated the room (i.e. paint it)that Tink is in?
As budgies find all manner of paints, solvents and chemicals problematic. And this could be the problem to his breathing issues.
However, I do hope he is ok soon x

Yes, i wallpapered a feature wall, and painted the rest, his cage has been moved (not cage contents), this is why i thought at 1st he didn't appreciate his home being moved, but he can now see more where his cage is situated, unfortunately i cant move him back as there is now a 4ft aquarium in the spot where his cage was situated. (i had an aquarium a few yrs ago which he used to love watching the fish, so he should like this once there are fish to be entertained with again). I also used dulux eco-sense paint, thinking it may be safer with Tink, his cage was in the dining room while decorating, i have mentioned this to the vet which is why i think they have both said respiratory prob, but his breathing only appears heavy when he gets stressed out after the vets have had a bit of a job catching him to to be examined. :/

Would move his cage immediately out of the room that has been painted. Also make sure he is kept in a warm place - do you have a hot water bottle you can use and cover with a towel that he can sit on in the bottom of the cage? Would suggest he is going to need some clean air too. Hope that helps

Normal black tea teabags are the way to go, yes. Chamomile tea is good for them too, for all the same reasons it is supposedly good for us. I can't stand it. But strangely the birds seem to know that sometimes these things help them and will drink them when sick, but no other time.

There's a UK bird product called Guardian Angel which everyone swears by. You'll find it online. It's used both as a temporary pick-me-up for under the weather birds and also as an emergency treatment for really sick birds who need extra energy to buy them time before getting them to a vet.
Weak black tea is often used like Guardian Angel as an extra energy source in similar situations as it keeps their blood circulating.
Weak real camomile tea is really good as an anti-inflammatory when birds have an infection or are recovering from one, or when there's something going wrong in their crop or bowels, plus it also has some respiratory aid.
For the teas, make it up then dilute by half with cold water.
Make sure you talk to your avian vet to make sure none of these remedies might counteract any prescribed meds.

Take my advice , purchase some sodium benzoite off E Bay making sure it is feed grade , add one level teaspoon ( 5 ml) into 1 Litre of water , stir and supply for 35 days , use a fresh mix weekly and keep the spare in the fridge............do not supply any other fluids , veggies soaked seeds or softfood ....................this should cure your bird

Poor little man. He still wants to talk to the other budgie, though. I really, really hope you get some positive news from the vet. I did a little looking and found this very interesting article. I hope it is of help. www.petalk.com/megabacteria.html

Thankyou both. That is an interesting article Hezz, I did read the one on mega bacteria Barries page too, and it does seem to point to this awful thing, although Tink doesnt have all the symptoms he does have some, lethargic, fluffed up, seems depressed, and with the fact that both baytril & convenia hasnt done any good, poops are white & black but runny, he is snubbing his regular seed for his millet, just because he is being spoilt maybe? I buy red & white millet for him and he loves both. As you can imagine im watching him like a hawk, observing behaviour and giving lots of love and attention, he is having 5 mins activity, maybe the odd twizzle of a toy, a little fly and a walk on the floor, very few tweets, even in mirrors he just snuggles up and looks, then he rests for hours. (he likes the legs of the tv stand, theres another handsome bird to admire in those legs mind!) At the moment im thankful for all the advice we have been given here, it seems most members have been in my position with a sick bird, its not a nice situation to be in, hopefully we can get to the bottom of this and I will have my happy Tink back soon, its mentally draining trying to exhaust all the options. Wednesday cannot come quick enough, but Lance Jepsom has an excellent reputation, I look forward to meeting him and hopefully he will be able to diagnose Tink so we can treat him. In the meantime im loving this forum and seeing pics & videos of all your beautiful babies.

I'm sure your avian vet will be able to tell you if Tink has this or not for sure with a test, at least then you'll know and can treat him appropriately. It must be such a relief to be seeing the right man at last, I bet it can't come quick enough, it's so worrying when something is wrong.
