I have warmed him, and put him back, but everytime I look he is on his own again, he is still alive, and has food in his crop, he is so still and cold, not wriggling about like the others, I might be wrong, it seems to me the largest chick is kicking him away, is that normal?. Im so worried and upset, I know I have to be realistic and say we are lucky to have any chicks at all, but I want to do my best for him. a very sad bizzly

Only the best thoughts and prayers for you and the baby, Bizzly. You're doing everything you can. The little one will fight along with you to survive. Nature has her reasons.

It is very sad but it is part of breeding. The hen didn't feed him for some reason. That's why I check my nest boxes before the lights go off in the night to see all the chicks are well fed. But still sometimes we can't do anything.

Yes I understand what your saying, it wasnt mean to be for that little one, for some reason, but are lucky we still have 2 chicks. I still feel very sad though.

Poor Bizzly. I feel for you. Even though you know you have done all you can, it just wasn't to be for that last little chick. As BF said, nature had it's reasons, so now chin up, and make sure nothing happens to the two surviving. You still have them to think about, and Bob needs your help.

Rest in Peace, little one. Fly high and free. Bizzly, he will live on in the spirit of his siblings.

Update:- chick 1 is 10 days old, eyes are open, and doing very well, chick 2 is 7 days old, I think he has splayed legs, so am going to try the make up sponge method to try and fix it. Other than that all is well, Bob is still doing a great job, and Bluey is chatting to himself in the tree

Good luck with chick two, Bizzly. The sooner the better from all reports.
