Hmmm, Cookie is a most curious case! Maybe she needs some chamomile tea. Maybe someone here has ideas of how to pair up Cookie. I thought about giving chamomile flower tea to her tomorrow! ππ

Really lovely photos of Breezie and Mishty. Iβm so relieved for you that youβre able to watch them and not be on edge mona. I hope Cookie will be able to find a friend that can fight back so she shows more respect towards them and wonβt be quite so feisty.

mona how are you and the budgies? I hope Breezie and Mishy have become good friends and Cookie has settled in with your mom's budgies.

mona how are you and the budgies? I hope Breezie and Mishy have become good friends and Cookie has settled in with your mom's budgies. We are doing okay. Thank you for asking! Cookie didn't settle well with mom's flock. She kept screaming non stop the entire day.. It was terrible to see her like that all day.. her eyes seemed different to me - full of anger and frustration.. We ended up putting Berry in her cage. I admit not having patience to move cookie to another small cage while letting berry in the large cage for a while. We took a risk..but it ended out to be okay. They act close and friendly..Cookie has chewed berry's tail twice or thrice. We are on lookout, in case we need to move her to a small cage meanwhile. We really can't hear her scream more.. It's distressing for us to hear, it might be so disturbing for her mental health to scream all day.. ! Mishty doesn't hurt breezie, but they aren't very close like Cookie and berry. We think the cage is too small. So, we moved mom's birdies to her large cage.. and we are going to try moving breezie and mishty to the comparatively larger cage. I'm not looking to buy a new cage right now.. deciding on the height of the cage.. though I have placed a plastic mat and a towel on top of it with paper liner on the top (on cage grid). Tomorrow, we are going to arrange that cage and see how it goes. Mishty never got to play well in mom's flock, so she is just too excited to play with perches and toys.. I have seen breezie scratching his head with his affected foot and go down to cage base to eat mineral block. I'm not keeping my hopes up for his toes to be well again. Breezie is moulting and had been on antibiotics. Mom's birdies were on antibiotics before they came in contact with my birdies. The weather is unpredictable, so they need a lot of care and observation. I do feel exhausted mentally and physically with all the changes we are doing with the birdies. It's emotionally challenging when we think about all of it from their point of view.. We didn't get a new birdie yet. In case, if things don't work out with any of mom's birdies, I'll return them to her flock.. I might be just blabbering. I just have too much going on in my mind.

It sounds very encouraging for Cookie, long may it last, then one less thing for you to worry about

Love at first sight seems apt for Cookie and Berry as of now. However, I'm hoping it stays like that. I haven't seen Cookie and Breezie preen each other ever, whereas cookie and berry preen each other. The dynamics seems different between them. Except for chewing his tail, they have been getting along well. Berry is moulting too right now, hence those feathers.. Mishty and Breezie have a 'stranger' feeling for each other right now. They are both passive, but breezie is scared everytime she traverses behind him and runs away. I think he feels she will pull his tail, just like Cookie did. He has been wary of birdies being behind him anytime. And it's a lot of cleaning with 7 birdies in the room.. π

Yes mona, I can see where the dynamics between the birdies and watching to make sure nothing is amiss would be stressful. It does sound like Mishy and Breezie will be good together once they learn to trust. Cookie seems to have a really aggressive nature! Berry and Cookie preening each other is a good sign. very once in awhile, I'll see Buddy nip the end of Tweetie Pie's tail feather, especially when he's perched above Buddy, has his tail in Buddy's face and Buddy obviously wants him to move. Once they all get settled, you'll feel better. I can imagine how much work it takes to clean and feed all the cages, etc. Hopefully the stress is not causing headaches for you.

I'm glad mom is with me right now. Or I could have been very stressed out. I'm just physically exhausted.. no migraines and headaches so far. My health has improved too.
I wish we can have some fun and light moments now (does it sound selfish?!). The birdies have been stressed the past 4 months and me too..
I have been just thinking if Cookie has that personality or something is bothering her. She chewed berry's tail feather when he was sitting on a higher perch too.. I hope that doesn't happen frequently though. She is way more friendlier with Berry than Breezie, but it might be too soon to say anything! She used to push Breezie a lot chase him and peck him whenever he went to sleep.. Cookie might have missed budgie company a lot, hence the mingling maybe.
With breezie, he was excited on day one on seeing mishty. But she wasn't interested in him, so they ended up being on different corners.. It might just take some time. I hope the new cage helps. We are going to set up one side for mishty with all play zones that keep her busy there and her sleep perches too.. opposite corner for breezie to chill in peace whenever he wants to. Mishty runs a lot, like a hyperactive kid, as if she saw the toys once in her lifetime and she won't get another chance to play with it.. π

Itβs not remotely selfish.
It could be with Cookie, that she was how she was with Breezie, just because she could be like that a d heβs a bit of a soft touch. Hopefully this heβs pairing will work
A good idea about diff zones in the cage for Breezie

I think with Breezie and Mishy, it'll take time for them to learn each other's personality. My Buddy is a bit hyper while Tweetie Pie is very mellow. Buddy wakes up all hyper, wanting to play while TP just perches very still like he's wanting more sleep time. Buddy has learned that TP is not going to play so he jumps to a lower perch to play. Luckily they came to this arrangement without any big fights. I think Mishy and Breezie will figure it out.
Glad you haven't had headaches, they are the worst!

Iβm really pleased to read Cookie has a companion sheβs getting on well with. I hope that things are finding a more harmonious path with the budgies now. Breezie has a nervous disposition I think but hopefully his life is easier because Mishty is gentle in comparison to Cookie. You deserve some quality time and itβs not at all selfish. Itβs good to hear your health is improving and you e had no headaches. Stay well mona π§‘

It's no wonder you are feeling exhausted mona. I'm glad that your health has improved but it's stressful making all of these decisions and trying to organise and rearrange everything in the best possible way. It's no wonder your mind is buzzing. A bit of nice me-time and some fun is definitely well deserved and not at all selfish. In fact I think it helps to get a break, relax and do something that makes you happy so that you can look at things afresh afterwards. I hope you can do that, even if just for a short while.

Today, during his foot massage, I saw that breezie has some sensation in his front two toes. I'm wondering if he just can't move his toes back to original position, due to habit. I'm trying to hold his toes in original position, with a smooth thin soft stick in between his toes.. the stick is extremely thin right now (like an earbud), but he doesn't let me do that easily, which makes me think if he still has pain or discomfort over there or he just doesn't want me to. His feet is still pink and has blood circulation. His nails are growing on his affected foot. I cannot grab him to cut it. Tha last time I held him, he twitched his wings and feet for a long time. I don't want him to go through that again..
But, at the same time, I have no idea how to trim his nails. I think it's a bit tilted due to the weight of his other toe on the nail..

it is great he has sensation there.. maybe just stiff, a bit arthritic? but yes, he has put more weight on the other foot, so maybe the nails just are not filing down etc
it does sound positive

mona that sounds promising! If you think his nails do need a trim, maybe your mom can help. You can hold him while she trims. I'll bet there are some good videos on YouTube if you search "how to trim a budgie's nails".
