I have seen the videos tweetiepiesmom & read about it too. Just whenever we hold him, something goes wrong with him. He sneezes a lot frantically after being held and his wing starts twitching.. he also makes clicking sound for a few minutes.. plus he starts moving his good foot in a weird way too, as if a mosquito is biting and you keep moving your feet.. that affects him and he looks in pain for a couple of days.. he has become more like a touch me not bird.. I'm not very sure if it's some internal injury that gets hurt or a nerve that gets pinched.. but I'm very scared to hold him again.. ffiscool It does sound good. I just don't want him to fall down or get hurt again. I'm giving him the food that helps with nerve repair. Maybe I should look into food/herbs that help with arthritis ?

Maybe you could try a herbal anti inflammatory as I think that can help in general, it might not be arthritis,

As long as the length of his nails isn't affecting his ability to perch or move/hold his foot, I think I'd just keep an eye on it, especially since holding him causes him such distress. Is he still on meds from the vet? If not, I agree with ffiscool that a natural anti-inflammatory would be good. If he's still on meds, you might ask his vet if its OK to give him the natural anti-inflammatory. Poor little Breezie - I hope he keeps getting better.

I think the length of a nail is, at this stage, not the thing of primary importance. It is very possible that the toe will never bend again - many budgies go through life with a stiff toe and it doesn’t affect them in the slightest, not obvious to us anyway. Especially given the traumas that the poor boy has had due to being pushed around by Cookie, I’d leave the claw alone, as long as it isn’t hindering him in any way.

tweetiepiesmom He is not on any meds now. He gets natural anti-inflammatory ffiscool. He doesn't seem to be in pain now, except when held. We don't touch him now.. Hezz Okay. That makes sense..and the vet said the same to me too about his toes.. that it won't get back to its original position. He plays, eats and sings otherwise and is his happy self..

I imagine the budgies are like us when we experience an injury that effects our ability to get around - it takes time to learn how to move with the injury and then we're OK. Glad that he's singing and seems happy.

He’s certainly been through a lot and so have you. I agree with reducing the stress for the pair of you and not worrying about his nail at this time.

Breezie decided to fly above the rainbow today. I've not yet come to terms to it. My hubby was out of town. He came back and we have cremated breezie in our township under a tree, so that I can visit him often. I'll write more about him in a separate thread, once I feel comfortable talking about him, in a while. I have many regrets at this moment It feels weird to see his empty cage and I haven't been able to enter the room he was in.
It just feels like a bad dream and he would just come back to life. But that won't happen!

Oh mona, I was so sorry to read this. I had to go talk to my two guys and tell them how much they mean to me. I'm sure Breezie felt your love for him. His little spirit flew into your life for such a short time and knew you would take care of him. Much heart felt sympathy for you.
