I offered the boys a carrot top top today. I put it in a seed dish with a little drop of water in so it would still grow and so far they've ignored it. Worse than that, one of them pooped on it. The cheek of it!

Here is my contribution to The Carrot Club, 7 days and 2 out of 4 have thrown shoots, i threw one away. Not quite sure the juice is worth the squeeze, these were just some small ones i had left in the fridge so will look for larger specimens to try

A lot of work for a bud to give the poop of rejection to.

Those are impressive after only a week, skysmum! My oldest are at about 2 weeks and are smaller than that!

Here are my carrot tops after 10 days. The brown one started later but quickly caught up! When should I plant them in soil? I don't see any signs of root growth.

The carrot is the root, so I don't know if they will grow.

Here's mine now: and here's the roots: They seem to have grown down into the wet soil. I only noticed them the other day so yours should appear soon.

That looks great blue48! I keep looking for the root system to develop. Maybe I'll try the wet soil trick and see if the roots start to grow. Your tops are also taller and more developed than mine.

They sit on the kitchen windowsill, and I have to keep turning them because they bend towards the light. Maybe that makes them stronger.

Here's my latest after putting them in soggy soil. I'm thinking about planting them in a pot outside. I'll let them grow more and then see if I can entice my guys to eat the greens.

So, I honestly forgot about carrot tops until I saw this thread again and threw away all the ones I had after salad prep. Just had two left..so added those two in water today. One of them has the head damaged, still have put it there. Hopeful 🧡 Do you guys change water for these? I'm very skeptical about dengue mosquitoes over here, so I normally don't store open water here. I would have to change the water daily, to avoid that happening. Hopefully that doesn't mess up the growth.

Hoping your carrots grow mona! Honestly, I did not change the water but just kept adding to it. I have mine in the kitchen under a window. I didn't see any bug problems or mold in the water.

If you change the water twice a week, dengue larva won’t have time to hatch, and if they did you would be able to see the wrigglers in the water. It is recommended to check around the home once a week to keep dengue mosquitoes under control. This is often enough to break the life cycle. Changing the water is not going to impact on the carrot top growing, letting it dry out will, on the other hand.
